this thread is for the 3 main gaming laptops.
(please send a pm if ive got any models wrong or missed any out)

the idea is to keep everyones scores in one place and be able to compare at a glance the results for new and old members of the forum.
taking into consideration of the different processors and ram used and model of laptop this will make for some interesting comparisons in the future.

all you need to do is copy the text below and add it to a new post.
    Thanks

Please run these scores TWICE to get an average score.
All the results below will be copied to this no reply thread so as to make it a lot easier to read all the scores one after another without any comments Final Results Click Here

I have clicked on the image and the resolutions are covered up on the 3dmark06. Heres an example which is covered up, but the score looks amazing with my lappy. No way to really tell i was on the lowest resolution lol ;)

Hey IKAS V, by looking at your screenshots it looks like you're running Windows Aero. You can probably hit 15k if you disable it by setting your visual affects to performance mode.

For vista go to control panel (classic view), click performance info and tools icon, then click advanced tools on the left side, click Adjust the appearance and performance of windows, when that window opens choose the selection that says Adjust for best performance than hit apply. After that everthing will look like Windows 98. I dont mind how it looks, but its so easy to change back when i'm not benchmarking.

Yeah, I ended up googling it and found it. I never thought of using that for 3DMark tests. When I put it on Windows classic, I had a bunch of black texture glitches with Google Chrome.

    3DMark06 is unreliable for me.
I can run it right now and get score "9757", reboot and run it again
with score "8388", run it again without rebooting and get "9212".

Also, I can disable every piece of Vista eye candy and in one test, see
zero score change, run it again with or w/o a reboot and see a 900± score change. I can OC'c the CPU by 500MHz and see no score change or a 1000± score change.

3DMark06 is too fickle for my taste and the same goes for the Vantage version. If they could make it like the Big Mac, consistent from Los Angeles to New York & Zagreb to München then I'd use it.

    a 600$ dektop i build with a amd quad core(2.3) + 8800 Gt XT, scores 11.5K 3d mark06.

    a 1150$ desktop i build with intel Q9400 quad core(2.6) with 4870 does 16 K+

now just imagine a 2500-3000 dollar desktop ( price of high end laptop). that desktop would have probably 3-4 X sli/crossfire with a disgusting prossessor... or even 2 quad cores for that matter... i would bet you could hit 25-30K ++++ in 3dmark06. well thats if 3d mark06 can detect/support all that LOL.

****, my stinking C2D 2.4 is really holding me back :D
Can you guys post benchmarking results at 1920x1200?
That is, if you have the professional version of 3dmark, which is totally worth it for these exact reasons...
    I get almost 10 000,with no OC.
Never have OCed the system yet, wish I could, especially the CPUs...

If you were to spend the same amount of money on a desktop that you would on.....lets say a 9262, then you would score at the least what my desktop does, hopefully more (in my signature). The only problem is my desktop does not fit in a backpack :(

If you want to game at home, get a desktop. Don't even think about getting a laptop unless A: you have money to spare B: you travel alot and can't stand the idea of leaving without your games

You might also want to do a hard disk cleanup and run a disk defragmenter to clean up all the old and useless files, to tell you the truth I am not sure if it will help your scores or add any performance boost for games, but it will give back some of the life back on your laptop.
    And ASH you are forgiven..lol

Unfortunately, the low FSB of the Q6600/Q6700 kills the 3DMark06 graphics scores! Your GPU is OK... slip in a Q9650.

Just to demonstrate how useless 3DMark06 is, I ran it 3 times in a row without a reboot. This is the result from the third time. It also happens to be the highest score I have received. Another thing, it keeps listing the CPU at
3192GHz when it is NOT OC'd (Well at least right now it isn't)

I dunno that any1 sad it yet, but every1 should run 3DMark06 in 1280 x1024, not in 1280x800! 1280x1024 is the accepted (by the community) resolution for 3DMark06 scores, no matter if it is desktop or laptop. (If you're laptop screen can't handle it, than use an external monitor)

I hadn't realized it changed. I was looking at the settings to compare against
what others had, to be sure I didn't have something on that shouldn't.

I guess that explains the 10k score! lol

With 1280x1024 my score stays under 9800

What is the difference between the "Advanced" & "Professional" editions?

I just made another 3dmark06 run with my avast antivirus off and got a kick A-- score. The hottest my cards have got with the OC is 68c with HWmonitor. Not a bad score for my Q9550. Before the OC my highest score was 14190....now take a look:

[IMG] [IMG] @ IKAS V: You will break 15k with the OC. If 'm this close with the Q9550, you can hit it with your Q9650

I'd like to see some killernotebooks vs other resellers benchmarks. I think it would be more like day to day improvements, but I want to see how much of a difference his mods make. I dont know if they would show up in synthetic benchmarks, but its still nice for a comparison.

Not experienced enough to OC anything,or BIOS flash but at 3.00 GHz I think that's more than plenty for pretty much anything.
But it would be interesting to see what it could do once it's balls out.
I'm afraid to try anything and screwing up my system.
Wish I had more experience with that sort of stuff......*sigh*
