I've been eyeballing a 15" machine after my experiences with a P775. It caught my attention that some resellers offer the 15" models with a 3K screen option from Panasonic. I know a 1080p screen is better and more trouble free in general, but I'm still interested in a 15" formfactor with a high res screen and a 1060/1070.
I'm not sure how a 2880x1620 resolution translates to evryday use and light gaming. Most games let you set whatever resolution nowadays tho. And I guess I could get away even with a 1060 to some extent.
Jumping on to the potential chassis which would be a P6 variant. Is the 1060 equipped model really thinner and has a metal bottom cover compared to the 1070 version?
- any opinions on the 3K Panasonic screen?
- 2017 P6 varints with the 1060 best bet for a "compact" machine for light gaming etc. ?

You can find a review of the screen (with specifications) here.
The resolution will serve you well if your "everyday" needs a large working space or dpi (image processing, coding, etc.). For gaming with a GTX 1060 you could get away with native 1620p if you're not after 60 fps or don't mind turning some settings down.
As to thinner variants, I believe the P950HP6 offered by HIDevolution has a pentile 4K option, a GTX 1060 and a height of 0.73" / 18.5 mm.
