    alight guys, I ran 3dmark06 with OC CPU and OC GPU separately, video driver is 175.70, stock score 9135, CPU overclocked by setFSB.
    Result 1: Overclocked GPU, stock CPU ---
    1280x1024 - 9757
    1680x1050 - 9288
    1920x1200 - 8362

    Result 2: Overclocked CPU, stock GPU ---
    1280x1024 - 10652
    1680x1050 - 9393
    1920x1200 - 8611

    Although result 2 defeated result 1 in all aspects, but lets not forget since the FSB was increased, GPU ran slightly faster than stock clocking as well. If I could OC the CPU by unlocking the multipliers, I believe result 1 would be the winner. On the other hand, we can also see that the decreasing rate of scores of OC GPU is smaller in higher resolutions. So I am quite confident to say that 3dmark06 is CPU bound at lower resolutions.

    Here's mine at 1680x1050. GPUs OCed/CPU stock (still trying/waiting to find the correct PLL)

    Drivers - 175.16

    1280x1024 was at 9961, but I'm too lazy to do it again and post it.

    Sigh 8700GTs already showing their age :(.

    Nope.

    D900K was previous generation of Clevo notebooks... using Clevo proprietary modules.

    The top card I can get for this notebook is 7950GTX (Clevo module)... which goes $550 or so. I do not think that getting a 20-25% gain is worth that much.

    I thought hardware is supposed to get cheaper as time goes by... apparently that is not true for high-end parts.

    What some of the new Clevo owners do not realize is....

    until this generation of Clevo gaming notebooks... ALL previous models were using proprietary videocard modules.

    Thats why it was such a huge surprise to see them put a bleeding edge MXM-IV in the M570RU and D900C ... last year.

    ...you should read the comments of Ice-Tea (Master of MXM) when he found out...

    Here is Ice-Tea's reaction:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=130281&page=2

    Don't take it for granted guys, having any form of MXM in a Clevo is a monumental leap from what it used to be.

    LOL :D

    3dmark06 is CPU dependant at lower resolutions since the 8800M GTX is a very strong card.

    Why would you want an 8700GT instead of a 7950? I thought the 7950 outperformed the 8700. Am I mistaken?

    We all know that site.
    Real life performance show the 8700M GT to be better in newer games, heavily relying on shading capabilities.
    My 7950GTX get busted when head to head with the 8700M GT on a new game with powerful shading needs :
    -Assassin`s Creed
    -Crysis
    -Grid
    -UT3 etc...

    3dmark scores are ok if you go into a 1k margin. It does not work that easily since both the CPU and the GPU affect that score.
    The 8700M GT competes VERY WELL against the 7950GTX upto WSXGA+ ...
    So in terms of 3dmark scores,it`s pretty irrelevant if the 8700M GT scores 5000 and the 7950GTX scores 5500 at 1280x1024.

    5100/4880/2720
    gpu/gpu/cpu

    and 3dmark06 gives about a 300 point difference per cpu
    example:
    x9000=11079
    x7900=10859
    x7800=10658
    t9300=10333
    t5450=9460

    scores based off my system and a 3dmark06 calculator only!!
