45 nm processor for notebooks timeframe

According to Pc MicroWorks we should expect upgrades for the 45nm processors around the april of 2008 timeframe.

This is good news for those wanting to know how long they are going to have to wait if they decide not to upgrade to the 8800m right away.

"We will have more information on the 45nm processor upgrade around April of 2008, but we should have an upgrade option for current customers"

Will be nice to be able to upgrade for up to 75% off retail.

Our concern is that a Motherboard swap may be necessary for each upgrade looking at the track record for the Clevo D901C......

I do understand that we just don't know at this time.

 

You have to take Eurocom with a grain of salt...he/she/it is not together all there. I don't think english is his/her/its 1st language. Some of his/her/its posts are a bit out there and not informed at all. Perussi caveo!

8800GTX motherboard revision 6.x(???)

Pentryn motherboard revision 7.x(???)

If you get Pentryn...then more than likely you will be able to use 8800's with no problems. I think was the point to be made.

I'd be looking forward to Penryn, too bad my laptop won't be compatible with it in all likelihood.

Not to offend anyone but I am sorry to say but between comments like this and the private, sales phishing, pms...I think have lost a lot of faith in this company. From what I hear eurocom is pretty good...but stuff like this is enough to keep me away. Just my two cents worth.

 

Thats the kind of crap that got them banned in the 1st place. Trying to sell products every chance they got. Everytime whomever is using the account posts they try to make it out like you need whatever costs the most. To me that does not meet most users needs and is poor salesmanship. The company needs to step up and keep tighter reign on whomever is using the account IMO. But then again what do I know I'm uneducated.

 

Back to the Penryn chips, since they don't become available until April, I think I am going to wait until the next generation GPU's are available from Nvidia and do a double upgrade. At least it will only require ONE mobo change then. Probably Q1 2009.

 

I agree, its not worth the money to consistently upgrade to the newest tech every time something comes out. But once maybe twice (if needed) a year isnt so bad provided the upgrade path isn't too expensive.

 

Back to Eurocom, haha, Wow so they spam us with PM's, insult our intelligence, and still expect us to pay about 20% more...!?! Good business tactics!

Eurocom I would love to know what exact changes were made to all MoB revs. I believe there was one for Turbo memory, but I have no idea which rev that was. Oh and by the way I suspect Eurocom PM spamming has just been replaced with PMT posting.

Yeah I am of the same mindset. I would prefer to target the Penryns' and the Nvidia 9xxx (or whatever they will be) in SLI personally.

But yeah with PC MicroWorks, it is a much better option with the wholesale upgrade path(3 yr Diamond+ program), much cheaper.

The X9000 is supposedly going to be the top Penryn 45nm mobile chip coming out early next year.

It is going to sport a slightly higher clock speed with a bigger L2 cache ( 6mb? )

Nobody has confirmed the compatibility of these processors in the current models though, as far as I know.

If the X9000 works on your M570RU, I suppose we M570RU owners would not even need a BIOS upgrade to support the new processors? That would be really nice. Let's see what the near future will bring

That is sick. A 2.8 CPU would mean a helluva differnce from my T7500 (2.2) . Could you ask your friend to benchmark at 1280x1024 ? I`d like to see the comparisson for CPU, and see if it can make up the difference for the GPU. I`m kinda hoping that If I can get this sort of CPU, and a 8800M GTX, I`d be close to 8-9k 3dmarks.

Why did Eurocom get unbanned? what the hell? Permaban that retard and anyone from that company, and people from any other company that spams and contaminates the forums with garbage. people who mislead others and don't know what they're talking about.

 

I am going to wait for the 45 nm processor to show up and when it does I will also be saving up for the 8800M GTX SLI for my Sager NP9261. But as of now I will be playing a lot of Xbox 360 so no more upgrading the 8800M GTX.
