    im trying to get this dell 4870m to work on my sager np8690 , i got it to post and can get to bios but after a min it starts beeping and flashing the lock keys. i can give u all info u guys need but can anyone help me make it stop shutting off atleast?

    i can even start to try and install windows it would actually do it but then cuts off for some reason i dont know why i can take a video and post online if anyone wants, but id like at least some advice on how to fix this...

    if anyone has a card they dont need and willing to donate id really appreciate it and willing to trade this perfectly working 4870m and a non working 5870m (came with system idk why it wont work it looks fine...)

    The Dell vBIOS of ATI cards report the temperature different than Clevo cards, which results in a thermal shutdown by the EC...maybe you could flash a Clevo vBIOS to the DELL card, but it may brick it as well.

    svl7 from the Forums here may know if the Clevo vBIOS works on that card or not.

    bump, do i have to make a new thread every time i need to ask which card will work on this laptop? i wish there is a database on this

    Can thermal limit be disabled/edited in BIOS so that thermal shutdown isn't triggered?
