Since sager only offer 8660 with 9800mgts now, I'm wondering which process technology it uses.
Is it just as notebookcheck said that all these 9000series with 512m vram are produced in 65nm? Then why is 9800m gts clocked higher than gt? Only because of the less number of shaders generating heats, not the more advanced 55nm technology?

Rule of thumb, dont use notebookcheck. Honestly, I wouldnt worry about it. Just know that the gt performs better than the gts.

Notebookcheck is correct in saying it is 65nm. The 55nm fab process has only recently been released on the desktop side. I was hoping my 9800M GTX would use the 55nm since its so much beaslier than the already powerful and hot 8800M GTX, but nVidia used different methods to control heat. The 9800M GTS is a G94 gpu, while any G92 based chip with 55nm is designated as a G92/4+ chip, the + designating the new process.

We will not see 55nm mobile GPUs until nVidia begins releasing new cards under the new naming scheme. Expect Q4 2008, Q1 2009.

You are right with the shaders / heat / frequency question. Since there are only 64 shaders on the 9800M GTS, much less heat is generated, and the core / shaders can be clocked higher. You won't out perform an OC'd GT / GTX, however, no matter what you get your clocks to.
