Ordered my 5720-V today. Left it stock except for bumping it up to 2GB of RAM. Can't wait for the UPS lady to arrive! Once I get it I'll see about putting together a Linux guide for it.

Welcome to the club!! If all goes well, mine should arrive by Friday.

You can save some $$ by ordering the 5720 with the minimum RAM and then buying 2GB from NewEgg. That's what I did and it cut the overall price by $200.

How? I didn't see a way to order it with less than 1GB RAM, so changing the order from 2x512 to 2x1024 for $125.00 seemed reasonable.

I'd love to get mine by Friday, I change jobs next week, so the laptop I have that works very well for gaming will be turned in.

From where did you order yours? I chose DiscountLaptops.com. There was an option to drop to 512MB. Looks like you got a pretty good price for your 2MB, though. DL.com said they'll start shipping the 5720 on 11/1. If that holds true, Friday will be a happy happy day for me. :)

Wow, I surfed to the 5720 as a result of looking for a GeForce Go 7800 that didn't weigh 20 lbs (not portable) or cost 3 grand (not reasonable). Then I came back to NBR to start a thread only one is already started (this one). Can't wait to read you guy's impressions and if it plays all the games currently out.

I ordered it from http://www.pctorque.com. They should be calling today to confirm the order, so we'll see about the shipping date.

Thanks, I'm excited about this purchase. I've been looking at getting a laptop for a long time now, but none have really fit my needs. I've always had close to the upper end of desktop hardware, along with a 21" sony trinitron monitor, so finding a laptop that could get me the gaming experience I'm used without a second mortgage was tough for a long time.

I also ordered a 5720. I won't bother with details on the purchase until I've had a chance to assess whther the experience will be positive or negative.

I've never been an early-adopter like this. I usually wait for something to come out and read up on everyone's complaints. Sitting on pins and needles now.

    Well - there's a first for everything!

I was the first person to buy my NP-5320 - I just saw it, liked the specs, price, and looks...pulled the trigger - never been happier!

    I think you'll really like it. ;)
