Like many, I was of the opinion that the screen could be a tad brighter when I first saw it. That was until I discovered how to brighten it with the Fn+F9 keys. Great!
Trouble is, I have to do this every time I boot up...or do I? The last couple of times I did, but I'm sure the boots previous to that didn't require a screen readjustment.
Of course having to adjust it every boot is no big deal in the slightest, I'm just curious to know whether my 5720 should be retaining its brightness level every time.

Go into the BIOS (F2 on startup). You can set the brightness so it's always higher.
Did you get your CD/DVD replaced/fixed? -
Didn't send my 5720 back for the CD drive - seems like everyones telling me they all wobble like that. For the record though - I've ALWAYS been paranoid about CD trays, they always seem to flimsy to me. The only STRONG CD tray I've ever come across is the one on my antique Marantz CD player - one of the first to come out in the early 80s (I rescued it from my stepfather who was about to trash it a few years ago). The whole machine is built like a tank and weighs a ton. It still works perfectly - I gather this is because when CD players first came out everyone was unsure of them so the first few models were exceptionally built in order to make a good impression.
My 5720 CD tray (when it's out) wobbles on the Z axis about a quarter inch either way and about the same up and down. Some installation CDs make a very loud noise when spinning, most don't. I've had other CD drives with the same problem, not sure how much of the noise is something to do with the CD itself.
To be honest, I'm more worried about my keyboard than anything (see thread next to this one) - but in all truth, I don't think I've ever made a computer purchase where I didn't worry about this and that for the first few weeks. You just want your baby to be perfect after all!
