So no upgraded 5320, but this looks like a nice machine.
Sounds like an upgraded 5320 in a 57xx chassis.

    http://www.powernotebooks.com/specs/Sager/5750specs.php
    17" WXGA (1440x900) with a x1600 256 w/ up to 512 hypermemory.

I'd like to see a WSXGA, but this still isn't bad for a $1400 notebook.

    Actually it's an X1600.

Sager is probably doing the same thing here that they did with the NP5720; they have another model with the same chassis, except lesser video performance for those who don't need it. Not everybody plays games. ;) The X1600 is still a very powerful card though.

    Done.

I configured one of the 5750's - very attractive pricing, I must say. Good upgrade pricing as well.

Heh, I was going to post this last night but I was too tired. So I came back today and I saw it was up. The warranty is a little ridiculous though, too bad it doesn't come with one. I love the way this notebook looks!!! The numpad is nice too

It comes with the Standard Sager 1-Year Parts & Labor Warranty, and if you buy it from PowerNotebooks.com it also comes with Lifetime 24/7 Toll Free Customer Service

I have a few question on the 5750. First, anyone know of a review? Can't find one anywhere. I guess that's with the new release. I plan on buying from powernotebooks or discountlaptops. I've spoken with powernotebooks via email and phone a few times and they've answered my questions promptly. Anyway, I'm leaning toward the 5750. I only want to spend around 1400 and I think that's a pretty good deal.

Second, I've heard that there is a hissing sound from the sagers in previous editions. I'm an audiophile, so I'm slightly worried about buying a laptop in that I can't put in my precious creative x-fi card. I know that I can purchase the audigy card for the laptop, but that seems like an extra thing that I really don't like to mess with. I want to know if they've fixed that with the 5750 or 5760.

Third, with powernotebooks, is there any guarantee about dead pixels. I don't have the 200 dollars extra here for that one thing. You know... I just realized that paladin44 is donald. I spoke with you a few times. You seem to be always on too. Are you the owner? Anyway, I'm slightly worried about this. I've had a few lcds in the past with no dead pixels, but never in a notebook. Also, since Intel is lowering prices on July 23, how long does it take for that price drop to filter down?

Last, I've looked at the photos and I can see that the touch pad is off center with the space bar. Does this present any problem for people?

Here's the specs on what I'm looking at.

    Sager NP5750 SUPRA
Display: 17" WXGA+ (1440x900) Matte LCD Display (Back ordered till
    6-16-06)
Modular Video Card: ATi RADEON X1600 w/Up to 512MB HyperMemory
    Processor: IntelR CoreT Duo T2500 2.0GHz Processor w/2,048k L2

    On-die cache - 667MHz FSB

Arctic Silver 5: Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound
    System Memory: 512MB (1 SODIMM) DDR2/667 Memory
Hard Drive: 40GB Ultra SATA/150 Hard Drive at 5,400 RPM
    CD/DVD Read/Writer: Combo 8x8x6x4x Dual Layer DVD +/-R/RW 5x DVD-RAM 24x
    CD-R/RW Drive w/Softwares
    Wireless Networking: Built-in IntelR PRO/Wireless 3945 802.11a/b/g
    Battery: 8-Cell Smart Li-ion Battery

AC Adapter: Full Range Auto Switching AC Adapter
    Carrying Case: Standard Carrying Case

    Regular price: $1,423.00
    Cash discounted price: $1,387.43

That seems to be perfect for me. Anyone know how long the battery actually lasts? I'm upgrading ram and hd aftermarket. Cheaper and I've managed to get a sata perpendicular write seagate momentus 120gb from an oem friend on campus.

    Sry for the long post.

You won't see any reviews yet because this model won't start shipping until the 16th or so.

What form factor is your x-fi card? If it is PCMCIA it won't work in most Core Duo laptops because most of them only have the new Express Card Slot. A noteable exception is the PowerPro L 8:15/Crown P 15:2 (Compal EL80) that has both the Express Card Slot and a PCMCIA slot.

I cannot comment on what you may have heard about a hiss...since the NP5750 hasn't been released there is no way to tell yet.

Dead Pixel policies are set by the manufacturer, not the reseller. We are a reseller for Sager so their policy will control, but the manufacturer for the Crown P 15:2 "ELITE" that does come with a 1 year dead pixel guarantee.

Intel lowered the prices for Core Duo processors on May 28th (not July 23rd) and those prices are already reflected.

The TouchPad looks offset because this keyboard includes a 10 key numeric keypad on the right hand side. We have never had a complaint about that on any of the Sager 17" models, all of which are laid out the same way.

The battery life is as stated on the Specifications page on our website.

The keyboard on the NP5750 looks to be the same as on the D900K (Alienware M7700) I tested a while ago. I found it to be a very good keyboard - the position of the touchpad never affected my typing. Here's my excerpt:

Thanks. My x-fi won't fit. I already knew that. I guess I'll wait a while for the reviews. The news page on notebook review said that intel was going to lower prices again on july 23. Oh well. I'm not really sure that would make a difference.

What is the current standard dead pixel policy on the Sagers?

Wow. You answer my question at 2 in the morning. Well... 4 for me as I'm in texas. That's serious 24/7. I'd have to say that you're the most helpful saleman I've come across.

If intel does reduces prices again it will get you a savings of $50-60 at the maximum. Worth waiting another 1.5 months?

Looking at your configuration--are you sure that 512MB RAM is enough for you? That may be an area you will want to upgrade to 1 GB or 2 GB.

    Just my $.02

I plan on using my own ram and hard drive. So that 512 is going to be thrown out. I have a friend who is in charge of the construction and meintainance of the computer clusters and network at my university. He says that he can get me a seagate momentus perpendicular write 120 by the time I order.

Read them carefully. Did it say that Core Duo processor pricing was coming down or was it another Intel processor family they were talking about?

    Here's the quote:

According to a report from Bloomberg news, in meetings Intel has told its customers it will cut Pentium chip prices 61% and faster dual-core chips by about 15% in order to reclaim market share from AMD.

I would like to assume that dual core includes the centrinos

Please take a moment to read the Sager Warranty It covers everything including their dead pixel policy. Then also read the special exceptions to that policy for the high end Sagers that is posted and updated in our Forum. Finally, you can read the Sager dead pixel guarantee.

Wait the article actually goes on to say the notebook processors.

    Quote:
Compal Electronics Inc. is the world's second biggest maker of notebook computers, they make laptops for companies such as Dell and HP. According to Ray Chen of Compal Electronics the price drop by Intel "means the consumer will get the benefit and the unit price will get lower so we can stimulate demand."

Asustek Computer Inc., another major manufacturer of notebooks in Taiwan, indicated that due to price cuts "from the second half, we believe Intel's product can stimulate the market demand, and will have pretty good performance.''

Expect to see cheap Pentium processor notebooks and desktop computers in the second half of 2006 and a slight drop in the prices of Core Duo processor based machines. LCDs and not processors are the most expensive part of a notebook, a processor usually makes up about 15% - 25% the cost of a notebook so a 15% drop in Core Duo processor price would only drop the overall cost of a notebook about 3% - 4%. Pentium machines might see a 10% - 15% drop in price.
