Hello again folks,
I apologize in advance for continuing the out-of-control discussion that took place in the closed 5750 forum, but after reading through that discussion a few times, I would like a chance to speak; as, hopefully, an impartial soon to be 5750 owner.
I do think the original question asked is relevant for 5750 owners/potential owners. Can the GPU be upgraded down the road should the need arise? It doesn't neccessarily have to be a specific model, but if "Universe of Warcraft" (fictional game, don't wet your pants people!) shows up on store shelves in 2008 and the x1600 is not on the list of supported GPU's, I would be interested in my options. Do I need to buy a whole new computer to play the game? or do I have the option of upgrading the GPU?
I agree that purchasing a 5760 would be the best route to go if I have concerns about gaming performance on the 5750 but here is my situation:
1. My employer does business with a local Sager re-seller and will contribute some money if I purchase my computer through him.
2. Even with that deal in place I still can't afford the 5760.
3. The reseller only sells Sagers so I am limited to a Sager. The only Sager that will work for my minor gaming addictions and work applications plus will fit in my price range is the 5750.
I would prefer that opinions on this be respectful and if they're not, feel free to shut this thread down as well and I will look for answers elsewhere, or PM me with your thoughts.
I appreciate your insights.

What is your budget exactly? You can get a better video card than the 128MB X1600 for the price, but the 5750 has a wonderful design and the overall quality is quite nice and sturdy.
Oh and don't worry about your other thread; you didn't have anything to do with why that was closed. -
My current budget is $950. That is how much I will be spending on the 5750. My employer covers the rest but only if I buy from the dude we do business with. That includes the upgraded version (NP5750-V) and upgraded RAM to 2GB. If I wanted to upgrade to the 5760, I would have to fund the entire difference myself. No help from the company.
$950 is pushing it for me right now but I need to take advantage of this incentive or I lose it. However, if it indeed was possible to upgrade the GPU, I should be able to afford doing so down the road.
A final price of $950 for a 5750 (includes tax and shipping)? I can't pass that up.

You're certainly not going to get a better notebook than the NP5750 for $950 - and that is a nice discount.

Yes, you simply can't beat that price for a 5750.
Getting back to the original question: If a future game doesn't work with with the x1600, will it be possible to replace the x1600 with a GPU that would work instead of investing in a brand new computer?
For example: I really wanted to play Oblivion when it came out but my Geforce 128MB FX 5200 wasn't going to cut it for me so instead of purchasing a whole new desktop I purchased a Geforce 256MB 6600 and Oblivion works great on it. I would like to know if I can do the same with the 5750 should the need arise. -

No one can guarantee an answer to this until the new card that you want is released and tested.
The Sager NP5750 is designed to be able upgrade the video card, but until any new card is released we won't know what power or thermal requirements it will have.
