Hey, I posted here not to long ago about the video card on my 5760 about how its practically dead and whatnot. I was right about to buy this video card -

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=300317483609

Until I opened up the one currently inside my laptop and noticed it doesnot look like it would fit.

Now I have run into another problem, about a year ago one of the hinges broke on the left side of the laptop and i have been letting it remain that way since it was mostly open in my room only moving when i needed to clean it. Recently the other hinge had broken and something must have gone wrong and the screen now refuses to turn on when the lid is open. I did manage to get it to turn on at a 30 degree angle which leads me to believe the screen its self is OK. It has been a week since my laptop practically started to die on me and I have had a pretty large headache since this all started to happen as I spent alot of my time on my computer. And withought it I have found myself just stressing most of the day.

I contacted the guys over at Sager about the video card and they told me it would be roughly $~240 for the repair of the video card and $~80 for the labor work if no other parts are involved. And im pretty sure if i send it in and they do a diagnosis and i choose not to have it repaired, that would be $80 alone. And with the shipping both ways thats around $~40. Im not sure what to do as I invested $2400 into this laptop but see no other way to fix my problems.

By the way, quick question. Exactly how does a laptop know when the lid is opened and closed. I started to think about that but donot really know how that really works.

Here are a few pictures -

What should I do. Im going crazy :'(

Yep, what about the problem with my screen. Does the on and off of the screen have a affect with the hinges or is that a problem on its own. When the screen is fully open it does not respond unless I fool around with it for some bit and only seems to have been turning on when its almost closed shut.

Would the video card i posted above fit? After looking at many video cards many donot seem to have the same layout as the one I currently have. I actually won the bid for the card above ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=300317483609) But am not paying for it just yet because I am not sure if it will even fit in the 5760.

Also, when attempting to completely open the laptop, i am unable to remove the entire 2 halves because in the back where the vga port is, it seems to be sealed very tight and I have tried for a long bit to get it open with no results.

the videocard that you posted will not work.

the Clevo M570U, D900T/K, M590K/KE are using the previous generation of proprietary Clevo modules (non-MXM).

as for dismantling the system, you can read the Service Manual to get a better idea.

I've looked around the wotrld to see how to dismantle the laptop with little luck. Something around the serial port messing it up.

My biggest concern arm is why the laptop screen won't turn on because idk how that works

the LCD has a couple of key components:
    - the LCD panel
    - the LCD inverter
    - the cables (connection from the motherboard to the LCD)

Right, but what lets the laptop know that the lid is closed. Do you know?

Also, could you confirm that this card would fit - http://cgi.ebay.com/AlienWare-M7700-CLEVO-series-NVIDIA-GeForce-Go-6800_W0QQitemZ180369087684QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_comp_laptop?hash=item29fed5dcc4&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1205|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50

there's a mechanism that tells the system if the LCD is closed or open.
    - sometimes its a small and thin looking plastic button
    - sometimes its a mechanism in the hinge.
