    Call tech support.

Like I said that doesnt look normal, and dead pixels are not cool. If they cant fix it then RMA this one.

I've seen worse light leakage than that. Unless it is bothering you, I wouldn't send it back. Do you have any dead pixels?

The blue light is the light leakage? That looks pretty bad to me. I wouldn't want to deal with that if it were mine.

As a matter of fact, I had a stuck pixel that would only get stuck after a little while of playing (I guess it would heat up). Here's a picture of it last night, but as of this morning, it's dead, completely dark and unchanging.

So the problems I'm having now in summary are:
    1. light leak
    2. stuck pixel now dead
    3. monitor won't wake up from standby

I've got another RMA number and am planning on sending it back (for the 2nd time) on Monday.

If you have all those problems, it's a good idea to send it in.

So, I RMA'd last Monday, like I said I would, and Eurocom got to it this past Friday. Apparently, the Gigabyte Atheros 108 Super G card I got is causing it to hang when waking up from standby. When they put in an intel pro wireless card it seems to wake up fine. This is my second laptop, the first one had a defective flash card reader, and the first one seemed to wake up fine (with the same Super G card), so I don't know what's wrong with this one. They won't be getting new M570U's to test this gigabyte card on until Friday, along with the video cards.

I talked with Alen in sales (he sold me my system) about getting a free upgrade to the 512 MB 7900 gtx for all my troubles, and he said okay, but they won't be getting those in until this coming Friday. So, they're going to hold on to it until then. They also have to figure out the wireless card, because I paid extra for it and also bought a super g router specifically for it.

They said the light leakage was normal for this unit. I personally think it's a little worse than normal because I personally compared it with p_boucher's M570U. But it's not so bad and I can live with it. The dead pixel isn't very noticeable either on such a large resolution. It was much worse when it was stuck on green. But then it burnt out, and hasn't been so bad.

So I placed the order June 19th, and haven't had a fully working laptop in my possession since then. I told Alen if he wasn't going to compensate me, they could just keep it and I'd get a Dell M1710 instead (nobody else sells clevos or sagers in Canada). We'll see what happens.

Although problems with a new laptop can be a huge hassle and stressful situation, I think the free upgrade to a 512MB 7900GTX is a nice gesture.

With some companies you will wait for a long time to get your money back.

Well, it's been a couple of weeks since I returned it but my laptop was shipped back on Friday, and I personally got it back yesterday (I was on vacation). Haven't had much time to play with it yet, but everything seems to be fine. They gave me a new laptop and the 512 7900 gtx upgrade which is great of them. I had to haggle a bit to get it, but I'm pleased.

At first Alen said they'd give me the upgrade, as I posted earlier, then he kindof backpedaled and said whoever wouldn't authorize it. So I asked to talk to who made the decision and apparently it was the supervisor in tech, Rafal(sp?). This was last Wednesday, but he wasn't in that day. At that point I was really starting to get pissed because I had been down-the-roaded and you'll-have-it-next-day'd for almost 2 weeks by then. But then I called Rafal on Thursday and after a short exchange he changed his mind and said I'd get a new computer and they'd give me the 512 upgrade for my troubles. And so now, after a brief lookover last night, I am extremely pleased with my laptop and the service with Eurocom. I was starting to have my doubts about both, but barring any further troubles, am pleasantly relieved and satisfied.

Cool! Glad you're now happy with your new laptop. I'm kinda relieved seeing you had some good service from Eurocom. It's good to know.
