Are you sure you're plugged in and running full speed on all your components. That score is horrible.

Also check your temps while doing so. Maybe your card is overheating and downclocking itself.

A bit more info would be helpful. What OS are you using? XP? Vista? x32? x64? It's more than likely you power settings. Your CPU is downclocking. Give us a shout back and we'll try to walk you through fixing it. (If that is indeed the problem!)

When you right click on my computer and go to properties what is it showing for your processor speed? I.e. is it actually showing Intel xxx 2.0? Or is it lower? What does your Vista Experience Index show?

Okay, that all looks good. You said you had the latest drivers? What version are they? Did you correctly uninstall the old drivers before you put the new ones in?

Have you cleaned all of your fans out? is it over heating? Can you post an image of your 3d06 score?

Post a screen shot from the nvidia control panel's system info. If you did a install the new drivers they may not have cleaned the old ones out properly. This is not one of Nvidia's strong points. I have installed the latest driver twice now and it has kept the old version both times.

Also double check all of the power settings I have had some get changed and not change to what I really wanted.

Next are your fans/heatsinks dirty? This is a real issue with laptops and cooling. You might need to clean them.

Back to driver issues. When you say they are up to date which diver are you using? Where did you get it from? are you using an official release or one of the newer beta drivers? 169.04 or 169.09 are currently the best tested drivers I think 169.04 is a bit better but I don't really see any difference between the two.

    WARNING ** long images incoming*

    to answer your questions.

Also, i have updated the benchmark and had a slightly better yet still horrible score.

    1. Screen shots (scroll down)
    2. power settings are set to full proformance
    3. I am unable to actually open the laptop but will work on it (issue with screw driver and screws being partially stripped) from the exterior, the fan vents are clear.
    4. currently 169.0 as shown in the screenshot

i have attempted to play crisis on all low settings, but still get a good bit of lag spikes

Ok I think I see it. Maybe, change performance tab to let the application decide. I think you will see much better performace that way.

Since drivers won`t cut it, a fresh reinstal would definitely fix the job. I am still felling that it`s a driver issue.
Does your unit get hot, or do the fans get noisy ?

OK here is how mine are set. Everything seems to be the same except these.

    nvsettings 1.JPG

    nvsettings 2.JPG

    nvsettings 3.JPG

I also concur if this doesn't help maybe it is time for a reinstall.

This is what I get on mine with a single card. It will probably be higher than yours because of my processor. 0-2 on CPU test is normal, 3d Marks is using your CPU to render the whole scene instead of the GPU.

    Edit:
Fixed attachments. Sorry about that not sure what happened. Should be better now.

    1) make sure you have a clean system (meaning NO DUST... which you might have if you have not cleaned out your system)

    2) after installing optimized/stable Nvidia drivers, make sure to set the performance of the videocard to Max Performance (in PowerMizer)

    3) make sure the system is plugged into AC Power... to get max performance for tests.

Your score seems to be low because your videocard is not throttling to full speed (due to a powermizer or other performance options that is making your system save power)

you may not believe it, but I am using stock 8x.xx drivers for my 7800GTX.

I found them to be much better in stability and works perfect overall in my gaming.

And yes, it play all new games without issues (even in the new games that supposedly needs new or better drivers):
    - Call of Duty 4
    - Bioshock
    - Unreal Tournament 3
    - Crysis

I used the new 15x.xx to 16x.xx drivers and found no real performance increase and I some mobile options (like PowerMizer)... so I reverted back and my system is still kicking some butt. :)

And I can still OC if I choose to with RivaTuner or Nvidia coolbits using the older stock drivers.

    It should be there.

Under Advanced Settings. (in Nvidia Control Panel)

Have you done a benchmark after switching drivers?

It looks like that solved your problem. Take a look at the Nvidia install notes and follow them next time. I have had issues with the drivers not installing properly in the past.

Most likely there was a problem with the driver install the last time. so when you rolled back and then reinstalled the 169.04's, it was cleared up.
    drivers are finicky little buggers.

BTW, I'm using the stock 86.63 drivers on mine, and they work quite lovely.
