I have a Sager 5790 (specs in sig) that I purchased in August. Upon receiving it I installed the Xtreme G 163.14 drivers and have been running those ever since.

Everything was running great until I began to play Call of Duty 4 multiplayer. It seems worth noting that I have no trouble running the single player. CoD2 is a breeze, as is HL2, TF2, etc., etc.. However, after I have been playing CoD4 multiplayer for a bit (the time can vary between 15-50 minutes) the game will freeze. If I leave it long enough the game will continue, but freeze again shortly thereafter and then emergency shutdown after showing me a blue screen with an error message. Unfortunately the error message isn't displayed long enough for me to read it. Basically I've been reduced to playing until my computer freezes the first time, then quiting immediately as soon as it unfreezes and coming back to play again in an hour or so.

I am completely at a loss as to what is causing this. Perhaps I need to update my drivers? I thought it might have been a heat issue, but the thing sitting right on top of a Zalman NC1000 that's running at full speed whenever the computer is on--so I hope it's not that. Any help or suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks,
    Peter

I would give the 169.04 or the 169.09 beta drivers a try. The seem to be stable and have fixed some problems for others.

That's a good post. It happens to me as well once a while. I've no idea why as well and I've tried using 169.04 and 169.09 drivers but the problem is still here. Most of the time in the first few minutes in the map (showdown) I always get the long freeze, after a minute or so it will resume like normal. I have also had the BSOD you mentioned. But I think it's not related to the freeze problem since most of the time when I get the BSOD my game didn't freeze (before). In my BSOD it says "System Malfunction..." which I have no idea what it is about. I'm using a notebook cooler under my NP5790 so I don't think heat is an issue.

I will give those drivers a try an see if that helps. I'll post back here about how that works. Thanks.

Hmm. Tried the 169.09 drivers from laptopvideo2go, and though the game looks much better and runs smoother, I'm still getting the freezing. This is really frustrating. I really have no idea what to do about this. No one else I've talked to has had any problems like this--it's weird that it would be unique to 5790's...? Huh.

This might be off base but here it goes.. Since it only happens in multiplayer look to see if there has been an update for network/wireless card.
