i have the lplf600. my freind just got his he ordered from sager directly (he said he would have ordered from xotic but he did so before either of us realy knew about them), anyway he got a different model lg screen, he ordered about a week before i did, i think his model is lplf000 or lplf100 ill check tomm to be sure but man its BEAUTIFUL.. i thought mine was pretty nice. his is AWESOME. wow. one thing i just cant stand with any company is all these different panels they use. they just need to keep it consistant. i HATE this fact. it sucks that one person gets a stellar screen and others get decent screens, not complaining at all about or to xotic.. dont take it that way. and its not just sager/clevo, dell hp etc they all do this. mine is not at all terrible but when side by side to his there is simply no comparison AT ALL.. its that nice. both are wuxga. his is SUPER BRIGHT, not even a hint of grain (mine has grain but its not to bad), and colors are fantastic as wel are viewing angles they are fantastic i would have been the happiest person in the world had i got his screen. again just a rant more than anything. he just left here and we were both shocked at how nice it was. he turned it on for the first time when he got here so we can set it up for him.

so im being my normal curious self and wondering has anyone recently got anything other than the lplf600 or did he simply have amazing luck.. ? thanks for playing along.. lol

can you make a video with both of the screens side by side?? If you are gonna do it try to move the camera from one side to another to compare luminosity and viewing angles. :)

Is there any way for me to know what screen I have without taking the system apart? The only issue I have is one blue pixel (1 inch down and 1 inch in from right top of screen) and I am not going to send it back for that, as it is really not in my field of view in 99% of the applications I do.

if you want to know the exact factory Part Number, install everest, and that will give you the correct one.

I have an NP5791 review unit and it has this screen:

    "MONITOR\LPL0B0A"

It's absolutely amazing as far as I can tell, definitely the best glossy 17" WUXGA screen I have seen (and I've seen a lot).

The full review of the NP5971 is coming this week.

what res do you have? if im right that is wsxga? if not wow that is def different who did you get that one from?

the one thing i HATE about the lplf600 is the viewing angles. they simply are just terrible. if i even move my head a inch or two any direction part of the screen is darker than others. i can NOT view the screen with the same brightness unless im looking at it from more than a few feet away.

the lplf0000 my freind got is simply gorgeous.. awesome viewing angles and no grain at all to it not even a hint of it.. always my luck i need to just not buy these kinds of things anymore. lol

also please list the res and if its glossy or matte. thanks im trying to get my brother in law to order one from xotic but he is being persistant about the wsxga glossy which it seems is only available through rjtech. why do none of the other resellers offer the wsxga glossy screen? doesnt make sense if xotic had that i would have gone that way myself over the wuxga glossy simply because the wsxga are almost always brighter than the wuxga are

APP9C50 here. The screen is not bad, but I noticed that about 1/3 of the screen is darker than the rest. It's not very noticeable though.

it seems they are all shipping right now with the lplf600. i like the screen minus the fact it could be brighter and the bottom corners are dark in the very most bottom part of them if you look at the screen without the task bar on a all white or blue screen you should see what i mean, also the screen does have a hint of grain to it

I'm waiting for an answer from my reseller about my 2nd dead pixel encounter. But I have to admit, if the pixel wasn't quite in the center of the screen I would have probably kept this one.

I did PAY for a dead pixel warranty, but sending the notebook away for a week for the second time is quite ***.

I have the LPLF600 also. I've now noticed a little bit of the lower corner thing. It's subtle but there. The viewing angles are definitely not great. What really bothers me about this machine is the fan noise and the very weak sounding speakers. I don't expect them to be a like desktop speakers but as far as volume output goes they are among the weakest I've ever heard. Usually laptops put out enogh energy to be somewhat loud or even distort. These things just sound way under amplified. I have everything turned up including powerful eq and it is ok for low listening level. Doesn't seem right. I'm still within the return time. Considering swapping it out for a different machine. I was very nervous about buying sight unseen and now unfortunately it has bit me a little bit.

There is NO WAY you could not be getting distortion with your eq bumped up and all your output volume controls on full. You either have overlooked some settings or you have a problem.

so far the only three screens i have heard of them shiping with were the lplf600, the lplf0000, and the lplf080. the lplf600 imo was the worst of them but imo it is still wayyyyy better then what you get from dell. so i would not pass on it just because of that. the man difference between the 600 and the 0000 is the 0000 model is def brighter has better contrast and the bottom corners were not darkened. these can be very important or they may not be to you. depends on what you want in your screen. i can say the overall color on the 600 was better then the 0000.

both screens had a touch of grain to the not at all bad but it was there. some may not even notice it since its not that bad,

my only real negative on the 600 is the brightness i can live with the darker corners but its def a dimmer screen compared to what im used to seeing.

the 5791 is a great system and does have a few faults. but i would not pass on it just because of those.

well the speakers are one of them. imo they just are not loud enough. they dont distort for me or break up but even at full volume they are just simply not even as loud as the wifes cheap toshiba s135 model.

the screen as i mentioned bothers me some but its overall a decent screen and with all the crap lcd's being dished out today i guess its above par at least with what i saw from dell..

i had to fix my keyboard since it was getting "tweaked" at the esc key corner the metal frame of the keyboard was hitting the plastic in the hole for the keyboard causing it to stick down, i took it out and slightly re-shaped it then ground down just a bit of the corner there and it fits okay now.

but things like this annoy me as i look for perfection in things and nothing made anymore no matter who or where it comes from will ever meet that for me i guess. everything gets cheaper and cheaper to make every year and it shows.

most are no where nearly as picky as i am and overlook most of this stuff..

I have a LPL0000 with one dead pixel. Where does this screen fall? I can't compare it to any other ones, but the bottom corners are slightly dark. I don't notice them at all though unless I put something white down there.

I have two units: Two different screens (both UWXGA)

    LPLF600
    LPL0000

The LPL0000 is SUPER Glossy. Very bright jumping colours, but lots of reflective glare at different angles. It's so glossy that it almost drips.

The LPLF600 is less glossy - characteristically more like a matte screen (though still glossy).

Playing with the colour settings allows you to fine tune either for what you like -- but as for image quality they are the same --- but some fan boys love the glossy and get tricked into thinking some dripping coated screen somehow is "better". Relax about the screen quality and what models you have or don't have. They all look great.

this is how i would rate them imo

    LPL0B0A
    LPL0000
    LPLF600

the coating on the 0000 model is far more even and a bit less thick imo. it seems to appear more glossy due to the difference in the actual coating. if you look at the 600 model on an angle you can see the ripples in the coating and it has a almost green tone to it. the 0000 is silky smooth looking and is black when looked at in daylight with no picture on the screen. imo the almost green tinge to the 600 model is what make the colors seem dimmer imo. i have calibrated both and i can def say the 0000 is better almost all the way around.

both the 0000 and the 600 i have seen have these dark bottom corners while the 80 i saw did not.

again im def not at all saying the 600 is a bad screen its not. its far better than most out there i just wish companies would stick to one certain screen unless for some reason it became unavailable at a point. this way every person gets the same one and knows exactly what to expect when they get thiers in, this whole deal about all companies using 4 or 5 different panels on each certain model notebook imo is just bad to do to the customer. especially due to the fact one person gets a nice one and the next person gets a even better one.. just pretty unfair to people if you ask me.

again the 600 is not a bad screen its pretty good. it does lack in the viewing angles and has dark bottom corners and just a touch of grain to it. most people prob would not notice the grain. i know i have one missing pixel not a dead one actually a missing one and while i would like to have had none there is not much i can do. the 0000 i saw and played with had better all around angles was brighter but had a touch more grain and sparkle to it. the 80 was kinda the right compomise of the two and imo is the all around winner of the three. im sure most people would be happy with the 600. i am a VERY VERY picky person with my screens since i know what im looking at and for. it takes a whole lot to really impress me.

The picture can't tell you anything about screen quality, but I thought it was a nice overall pic :)

On my 0000 no dead pixels, no noticeable graininess, no dark corners, the only thing that bugged me was light leakage that could be seen from the right side. Doesn't bug me any more, as you can't see it when sitting in a normal position, and it is only noticeable on dark gray or black screens, and only when viewing it from the right side of the monitor ( I'm always looking straight at it ).

Usually I back off one tap on the brightness, from the max.
On nVidia panel, it's all at default. I'd set the brightness lower, that's my preference, but then it wouldn't be properly calibrated and all my photo editing would look like crap on other peoples monitors.

It is a good looking laptop. The performance you can get for the money you pay is extraordinary.
