opinions on this? i am hearing very mixed thoughts all over the net as to whether or not the 1gb turbo mem degrades performance when you have 4gb of ram available.. so im debating on removing it and just doing without it. thoughts on this? or should i just leave it installed and not worry about it.. thanks

The Intel Turbo Memory aka. Robson/AHCI has to be disabled or enabled via BIOs settings before Windows Vista is installed because it can not be changed at a later date without reinstalling Vista.
As far as the performance issues with 4GB of RAM along side 1GB Turbo Memory it seems to be a case by case basis. Some people report improved speed without the Turbo enabled others seem to state that it works for them.
Bottom line is the only way to know for sure that it is effecting your notebook's performance is to try it both ways by disabling AHCI/Robson/Turbo in the BIOs, installing Vista, and test with benchmark programs. Then enable, reinstall, and test yet a again. Then you will have a concrete answer. -
i dont care if it stays installed i just dont want to be loosing performance by leaving it in as some say you do with 4gb of ram

Take it out of there. Above 2 Gb it`s pretty useless, and in some cases it can actually worsen the performance.
Or disable it. Or sell it.
5791 w/ 4gb of ram should i remove turbo mem card?
