I have the Sager 5791 with the 7950GTX card in it. I have no problems playing games normally, but noticed immediately when I installed Call Of Duty 4 yesterday that objects are appearing black (with no color) in the game. Does anyone know if there is a fix from Nvidia for this? I am running Windows XP 32bit.

You might try updating your dirvers. They do have a new beta out a week or so old now.

I had tried several newer drivers from laptopvideo2go, but none of them fixed the problem...the latest one actually blacked my screen and kicked me out. I ended up downloading the 120mb xp video drivers file from the sagernotebooks.com website and am no longer having the color issue. The game is working perfectly (except for the problem with the Master Server...but that is another matter).

my 7950 gtx works nice, very nice...
169.04 + xp + 4x AA + Everthings On + 1280x800 = Av. 30 fps -
I installed the G71muu drivers.
-
I have no idea why so I uninstalled the driver and installed the driver from the "1038" folder. However I still can't change the resolution in the game but this time it didn't crash when it started loading the level. However the black objects problem is still in the game.
Apparently the driver version from the "G71M-UU" folder is 94.22 so I went to laptopvideo2go and downloaded it from them and tried installing it. However in the middle of the installation it says a file is missing and I just clicked "ignore it". After that I restarted and that DirectX error and the in-game crash is still there.I now have no choice but to go back to the newer drivers (because some of my other games needed the 163.76 driver). Looks like I'll be playing COD4 with lots of black object for a while before some new drivers or patch come out.
EDIT: omg... This is the lamest thing I've ever seen. Now I can NOT change my resolution even when I'm using the newer drivers (163.76) which used to work before...I guess it's not too bad since I can still change the resolution in one of the game files and the game runs fine (although the black objects are still there...-_-")
EDIT 2: Fixed the resolution error by turning off Xfire. However the black objects are still there... -
i am using the laptopvideo2go 163.71 drivers and haven't noticed a problem. could just be that i am not looking for it, though it hasn't stuck out enough to catch my eye either.
could it just be that the things you are seeing are "Burnt Out" and all black for that reason? (i could be totally off here, just throwing it out there) -
It only happens when you are staying in the shadows (even with night vision turned ON they're all BLACK.) When you're out in the open everything is fine (not black). Although most of the time the grass is black as well in the open...
btw I've tried 163.71 but it didn't fix it for me. It seems that it's only happening with people who has a (desktop) 7950GT or a (notebook) Go7950GTX.

Are you cleaning out your drivers when you install each different version? Just checking because what you're describing as far as bugs piling on bugs is exactly what happens when you don't do that...
For the record my 7950gtx with 156.75 Clevo drivers ran the CoD4 demo fine at completely maximum resolution and settings (well, only 2x AA but I didn't feel 4x would be necessary at 1900x1200...) - didn't measure FPS but it was smooth so I didn't need to. Maybe do a complete safe mode clean out and try that set of drivers? -
btw I'm using XP Pro, you using Vista?
I checked laptopvideo2go.com and they said 156.75 is only for Vista... (ie. there is no 156.75 driver for XP)
-
Ya, using Vista, sorry...

Anyone with the 8700M GT in their Sager5791 play the game yet. What settings are working out for you.
-
I have been playing it...Runs great at 1440x900 Max settings with x 4AA
No Overclocking. -
Alright, fixed the black objects issue by using the 169.04 beta XP drivers.
-
Always keep your drivers updated. It helps with games more than most would belive.

Its not that difficult to switch back when needed. I just wish they get everything mostly fixed for more than 1 release. There should be another beta in about a week.

If anyone wants a big leap in FPS, turn off "Soften Smoke Edges". The smoke quality with it on/off is hardly noticeable.
I was getting an avg of 25fps at 1680x1050 Max everything no AA.
I turned the option above off and now I get an avg of 40-45fps.
