The speakers on my 5792 work fine on their own, but I have a 2.1 system I usually hook them up to. Well, starting today it no longer works and I have no idea why. The computer recognizes it, tells me that a "jack has been plugged in" but there's no sound coming from my 2.1 system or the laptop speakers once it's plugged in. Weirder still, is that my headset (usb connected) doesn't work either, at least as far as music goes, but I can hear that little beep vista makes when you plug something in through the headset, but that's all. Before today, everything worked great. Any suggestions?

You should try regular headphones (non usb) and see if any sound comes out. If sound comes out, you know your 2.1 system it messed up.

I already tried that. I know it's not the speakers. It's like the computer recognizes that something is being plugged in but not the speakers themselves. Like when I go to reduce audio with the 2.1 system plugged in, it only affects the laptop speakers instead of the 2.1 speakers (something it didn't used to do.)

Another person with this issue! Sager needs to get their arses and fix the damn audio jack! I have the issuse, at least 5 more people have it, and now the OP ...
It just burns out or something in under 2months...unblieveble!

Yes,if uninstalling/reinstalling the audio driver doesn`t fix it , it`s most definitely a hardware issue. Call your supplier ASAP and tell them about this.

I'm downloading the driver now. I just don't understand how it could be a hardware issue, though, because my headset is connected by usb and it doesn't work either. I'll let you know how it turns out once I try reinstalling it. I simply cannot use a computer that lacks external speaker support...

Nope. Nothing. I'm emailing Sager now. This is disappointing. Btw, thanks for all the help.
