Hi , i have a Sager 5792 . I noticed it started to run slightly hot lately . I installed HWMonitor to check the temps . My CPU , GPU and Chipset are fine they dont get hotter than 50 degrees , unlike my HDD . HWMonitor records my HDD at about 45 on idle and while gaming it goes up to 54 degrees while gaming !!! Ive just reinstalled and tuned my OS for best performance , i have minimum programs installed . Laptop is mainly used for web browsing and some gaming .

I was wondering if anyone have the same problem . My fans are clean and they are working just fine . i am not using any cooling pads . Laptop is sitting 3/4 of an inch from a glass table .

Ive heard anything above 50 degrees is bad for hard drive .

    dont panic CTLVR
there is a big risk of damage when your HD hits 65c so youve got a long way to go.
my m860tu idles at 40-45c and when heavy gaming its gets upto 51-54c
only time it can touch 60-61c is when its running a long defrag.

Thanks for replying MrDJ . I think i just didnt know how hot my HDD was running . Since yours is working at about the same temps i assume anything around mid 50s is fairly common for a laptop .

54ºC as top, is not bad... it´s quite normal for 7K hard drives...

    Don't worry ;)

Just as a backstop, try running some hdd diagnostics on the drive just to make sure that it's still within spec and isn't beginning to fail - the manufacturer should have a diagnostic app you can download.
