I have seen numerous posts on the 1.00.7sh bios being the version that quiets down the fans and making it unnecessary to use fn+3.
I have been looking over a 5793 and according to the bios, it is version 1.00.8s. This seems newer than 1.00.7sh so I would imagine the fixes are included.
However, it seems (unless I am misunderstanding) that with 1.00.7sh, auto fan mode sounds the same as fn+3 mode until the temps rise and ramp up the speeds of the fans. Also, it eliminates the fan cycling up and down constantly.
On this same, there doesn't appear to a repeating fan cycling but auto mode is certainly much louder than fn+3 mode, even when sitting idle at the desktop doing nothing.
Is this considered normal and expected with the latest bios?

Auto mode adjusts the speed in order to not let the temps rise beyond 30ish, which is the normal temp for idling on the CPUs.
With FORCED Fn+3 , you get the SAME speed for the fan AT ALL TIMES, regardless of heat increase.
So if automode can keep the system at 30-50C even for gaming and such,by adjusting itself as needed, forced medium mode will allow higher tems in the system ,closer to 70-80C ...
I prefer auto mode when gaming or using the computer for hardcore tasks, but for plain browsing , working or reading I use fn+3 mode and disable it(by pressing fn+1 once) after I`m done. -
OKAY .. THE DEAL WITH THE FAN VS BIOS VERSIONS...
you have 2 different "firmwares"on your system. one is strictly the bios in which you have version 1.00.08s THIS IS NOT THE FAN FIRMWARE that is totally a separate thing!!!!!!! when you flash to version 1.00.08 (s or whatever same thing) this DOES NOT upgrade the fan firmware. that will remain whatever was on the system before updating the bios.
you can then flash whatever fan firmware you want to as this is separate from the bios totally.
if you want to know which fan firmware you have please hit f2 when starting up to go to the bios screen and enable the detailed bootup from the menu. then reboot and watch closely on the first screen it will start counting the ram you have. it will also tel you which fan/keyboard firmware you have and which bios you have. remember they are not the same thing!!!
the most current setup would be bios version 1.00.08 (s or which ever branded bios it is), along with the kbc firmware 1.00.07sh together.
hope this helps some people out -
Nice clean explanation Z , I wasn`t sure about the .8 thing, since I`m a slouch and still use my older BIOS...

There you go again z... every time you post an essay its like a dang epiphany, thanks for the info.

arh crap, as soon as i switch back to .07sh, the vibration came back
-
I swear dude, your laptop is weird. Nobody else had vibration with 7sh ..
-
I recomend that you open your M570RU and tight the fan support bolts. Maybe some of then are loose, causing that vibration problem...

x3..........
-
i don't think that's possible since it doesn't happen in .sf version

Just flashed from Fg to Sh, all is good in the hood. It does kinda allow for the CPU to get a bit hotter (not nearly hot at all though) instead of ramping the fan speed up and down so often. But here, listening to Winamp and surfing the web while F@H(30%cpu) runs, my CPU is at 40-46c even [email protected] with Fn+3 engaged which is what I normally do anyways- so the flash wasn't a big change for me. Seriously, I really don't care until it hits about 55c then I let the fans loose. (GPU@43, HD@49)
Note: after I installed and ran HDD Thermometer my HD runs @ lower temps... weird, does anyone know how a HD monitoring app can lower temps? (also a great program because you can set it to hibernate your notebook if HD temp passes critical temp; I have it display bubble and beep @ 60c and hibernate @ 62)
