I want this thread to be dedicated to the pricing of the 5793. Basically I think we should list configurations and prices and keep the thread going with lower and lower prices. Then I will update the first post with the current lowest prices for various configurations of the Sager 5793.

Right now it seems Xotic/Powernotebooks has the best price of all the resellers. Here is the configuration I would go with and its price.

    - 17" WUXGA "Glare Type" Super Clear Ultra Bright Glossy Screen (1920x1200)
    - Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound
    - Standard Dead Pixel Policy
    - ~Intel® T9300 45nm "Penryn" Core™2 Duo 2.5GHz w/6MB L2 On-die cache - 800MHz FSB
    - 512MB PCI-Express nVidia GeForce 8800M GTX DX10 (User Upgradeable)
    - ~ SPECIAL~ 4,096MB DDR2 667 PC2 5300 (2 SODIMMS) Dual Channel Memory (Requires Vista 64-Bit to recognize Full 4GB) FREE UPGRADE
    - NP5792/5793 Orange Frame Trim Color
    - ~Combo 8x8x6x4x Dual Layer DVD +/-R/RW 5x DVD-RAM 24x CD-R/RW Drive w/Softwares
    - ~ 320GB 5400RPM (Serial-ATA II 300 - 8MB Cache)
    - Internal 7-in-1 Card Reader (MS/MS Pro/MS Duo/MS Pro Duo/SD/Mini-SD/MMC/RS)
    - Internal Bluetooth 2.0+ EDR
    - Built-in Intel® PRO/Wireless 4965 802.11 a/g/n
    - Built in 2.0 Megapixel Camera
    - Sound Blaster Compatible 3D Audio - Included
    - Basic Black Business Case - Included
    - Smart Li-ion Battery (8-Cell)
    - Full Range Auto Switching AC Adapter - Included
    - Integrated Fingerprint Reader
    - None Standard - Drivers & Utility Software Only
    - 3 Year Labor* 1 Year Parts Warranty Lifetime 24/7 DOMESTIC Toll Free Tech Support
(Year2 & 3 Labor Warranty through Xotic PC)

    Sub-Total: $2,387.00 (Cash discounted price $2,315.39)

To order this at the best price we know of so far head over to either:

    http://www.powernotebooks.com/
    http://www.xoticpc.com/

Note: I am only partial to a company as far as it gives me a good price and good service before and after a purchase. I am not a 'fanboy' of any company or service except for the aformentioned objective reasons.. but being objective is the exact opposite of what a 'fanboy' entails so again I am not one.

I don't think any retailers can beat xoticPC or powernotebook since they both do price match.

Smood, excuse me for exhibiting a little IRE, but if you are going to do this how about being fair about it? A couple of questions for you:

    1. What other reseller websites did you visit to determine that Xoticpc had the lowest price?

    2. How is it the PowerNotebooks.com price, warranty and 24/7 DOMESTIC Support is identical to Xoticpc, but you conclude that Xoticpc has the "...best price of all the resellers."?

Haha, because so many people in these forums advertise for Xotic . They don't take into account the other "20+" resellers.

Also, for your configuration i get the EXACT same price for powernotebooks. . . so wouldn't Xotic + Powernotebooks share the "best price section"? Of course I only checked powernotebooks, but there are so many resellers to check. . .

The other "20+" resellers are usually nowhere near Xotic or PNB when it comes to price or service.

I've started my sager research about 3 months ago and from all the resellers i've seen PNB and Xotic usually always have the same lowest price out of all the resellers, followed by Sager prices which is usually 50-100 more. From the sites PNB and Xotic are the cheapest usually offering the same prices followed by Sager. Although 1 week ago you were able to get a fully decked out 5763 with xtreme proc for 2500 at PCMW but that was a one time only sale. :D

    2. Sorry I didn't mean to disclude PNB. I have added them.

Damn it Minkang. I said this in another thread, obviously you missed it. Stop saying 5763 its the 5793... its even in the thread title.

Smood, all you are doing is ruining your credibility and showing yourself as a fanboy.

There is absolutely no difference in the price, warranty or support.

Wise up...others on this forum can spot you coming.

Thanks Gophn. I updated the first post. Too bad Xotic won't price match the memorial day price PC microworks had. They didn't get back until wednesday and by then the price drop was gone. :( Will PNB match that price from before? Im guessing if Xotic wont they wont either.

Oh really? I called them and couldn't get through at one time. It was during business hours too.. so I started to get a bad feeling about them. Anyway the sale is done now so I'm stuck paying like 2300+. It would be nice to get it closer to 2000 even.

PC Microworks Corporation was formed in California as of September 20, 2006, at least according to the Cal. Sec'y of State corporate record.

That doesn't mean that the business wasn't operating prior to that date, e.g., it could have been operated as a sole-proprietorship for ages before, or the corporation could have acquired a long-standing existing business, but it's usually a pretty good indicator of when the business commenced. There was no BBB record on PC Microworks according to the BBB website - I asked them to put a report together just to get the ball rolling.

By-the-by, just 'cause I was curious, Sager is actually a d/b/a name for Midern Computer Inc., formed on 7/27/1987.

PNB is, according to the Better Business Bureau ("BBB"), a sole proprietorship that has been in business since 1999.

XoticPC is, according to the BBB, an LLC formed in January of 2008; however, the same report states that the business has operated since 1998. A fact that is confirmed by the Nebraska Sec'y of State's record for XOTICPC, LLC. Since we all know that Justin's been in business longer than this past January, this stands as a counter-example to my earlier statement about date of incorporation being a good indicator of when a business started - in some cases, it's not.

BTW, congratulations on getting some protection for yourself and your business Justin!

The only reason I went with XoticPc over PNB last year was because Justin offered the same config as PNB at the same price, but had an extra 2year labor warranty.
While the warranties are "similar" Xotic WAS the only one that :
    1)does ship internationally
2)had an extra 2 year labor warranty, although not that much of a big deal.

Right now, save for the shipping, PNB=Xotic.

I'm not trying to bash this thread, but I've been thinking, since Montevina and the new Clevos are going to be released in about ~2 months (This is my estimate of course), why would you buy a 5973, when new technology is around the corner??

The performance difference will be little to none for overall use.

Some people do not have time to wait and need a system ASAP.

Some people do not want to pay a premium for new technology.

    Those are some reasons. :)

That's exactly what I said when I bought my desktop, and now I feel like I've missed something, and something big, Athlon X2 to C2D, big difference. :( I regret it, but hey people have their reasons, it's true.

I do not regret getting my D900K.

It was the first and only dual core notebook on the market when I got it in March 2006.

It still holds its own against most current Core 2 CPUs. :)

I know, and that's my point, you went with the "new premium technology", the first dual core notebook, and I'm sure it's great for you. But, when you have 2 options and you take the lower to save some money, you feel like you left out on something.

Nothing is worse for a consumer than "buyer's remorse"

Technology is always going to progress.

    New becomes old quick. :)

I realized that I should be happy with what I have, so I do not stress when I see a new videocard or CPU, etc..

less than 3 months after I got my system, the 7900GTX came out for it, then the 7950GTX :(

So I was a bit sad, but what can I say... my notebook has served me well for over two years already... most people cannot say that (especially if they have a gaming notebook, which is prone to overheating and such if they do not take care of it)
