Hey all. Well after a long time deciding and then promptly after making a decision my 5793 has finally arrived. I ordered from Xotic and so far they have been really nice to deal with.

Unfortunately I do have 1 stuck pixel on the far right side, seems to by aqua coloured (I didn't get the $200 guarantee) but we'll see how it plays out.

Before I comment on performance or anything I'm installing drivers on the system. I have already installed Vista 64 bit. I was wondering are all the drivers on Zfactor's list compatible with the 64 bit version of windows?

I'm reading up on the intel matrix controller here (whether I should or should not install it). In the meantime if you have any outright recommendations please let me know.

Thanks everyone! I'm pretty excited.

Latest modded laptop2go.com video drivers! (177.41 modded)

I like having intel matrix controller installed.

And basically everything else on zFactors list. I believe they are compatible with x64, if not, you should be easily able to find them near where they take you.

Heh you will like your laptop very much. I hope that dead pixel isnt an eye catcher. Isn;t the matrix controller only if you have the turbo memory? If not what does it do?

Maybe z can come in here and tell me if those drivers are for x64.

Friar where did you get the latest drivers? Did you just use the ones on the disk? Congrats to you to on your 5793! :D

Also I read that installing new nvidia drivers on top of old ones is ok becuase Windows swaps out the old one for the new one as the process is carried out. Is this true? Would you instead recommend a complete driver uninstall before instaling a new driver?

    Thanks!

Smood i used all the ones on the CD except for the Intel Chipset one and the Wireless Network one, which can be dled on ZFactors thread. Everything i used from the CD as those were really basic things. For the video drivers it is a MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST to remove ALL AND ANY Traces of previous drivers before reinstalling the new ones. Otherwise you will get sluggish and worse performance then stock drivers.

I got mines on the 14th of June 2 weeks ago :D

Min do you have vista 64 bit? I assume you do. So I guess that means the chipset he linked to and the wireless network one are both compatible with 64 bit?

Just go to the manufacturers website and download the latest driver for the corresponding piece of hardware. If your not sure what hardware you have, put in your drivers disk and it will show you what its trying to install.

The only thing that shocked me is the power brick. That thing is humongous,it`s about 1.5 the size of the regular 579x one :D
    I`ll post pics tomorrow Z.
SO far, the system rocks in all aspects. And even the speakers sound awesome.

I'm also using Everest and HW monitor to monitor my temps but I noticed that I can't see Fan speeds in either program. Anyone know where I can see fan speed?
