Just arrived 30 minutes ago. Still installing programs/drivers etc... wont comment till after all this is done. Pretty much the same as the 5793. Fans actually do seem a little bit quieter on low auto mode. High sounds the same. Silent Mode is a little bit lower than low auto mode. Will post temps for you Eleron. No dead pixels again which is good. The e-sata port still functions as a USB port so we still have 4 usb ports instead of 3 which is what is stated on the resellers and sager's website.

    GPU Load = 68
    CPU Load = 44

    GPU Idle = 44
    CPU Idle = 32

HD IDle is a bit hot = 50

All these temps are with a zalman nc2000.

EDIT: RM CLOCK WORKS. Im guessing that since im using a T9600, instead of a P series chip RM clock is recognizing it. Unlike dreidel who has a p9500

3D Mark score of 9598 w/ stock drivers.
    With 175.75 i get 9785
    With 177.41 i get 9821

Seems like the stock drivers are not the best.
Something a bit weird i guess with the CPU, when im using rm clock to monitor the cpu it seems like when it is throttling it goes up to 2.85 ghz. It doesn't have that extra multiplier in the rm clock window so either its actually going above 2.8 or RM Clock is buggy because of the different FSB. Nonetheless changing the voltages work. Later today i will try lowering the voltage on my vid card and see what kind of batter life i get. I got around 4 hrs on my 5793 with UV CPU and GPU.

Ordered it on the 22nd. Not going to be doing an indepth review as this is pretty much 95% the same as the 5793 which there are tons of reviews on. Also since i owned the 5793 i can tell from using this that there are no real big differences. I will post some info tomorrow, still busy formatting.

The driver CD that comes with the 5796 has video drivers for the 9800m GT but i don't think they are very good. nVidia doesn't have them on their site so I am thinking they are a "beta" driver in that they are temporary until nVidia releases official drivers.

They dont build on weekends. I did next day air w/ student discount. h575309 all of the drivers at laptopvideo2go will work with any of the cards. All you need is a modified inf which you get can at laptopvideo2go.

I'm starting to think they released Silent Mode pre-maturely. My normal mode turns the fans off/on when needed at mostly idle (just internet browsing) which I think is how it's supposed to be. Silent mode downclocks the CPU as expected, but the thing is the fans ALWAYS turn on when I activate it. Then never turn off. I called powernotebooks.com technical support and they told me to give it 20 mins to run with fans in order for it to reach a low temp so that the fans could completely turn off at that low temp for silent mode to work. I tried waiting for a while, didn't work.

I might just forget about fixing it because I actually like the fact that Silent Mode turns the fans on non-stop because then I can set the power mode to power saver when im doing normal tasks. Then the CPU downclocks to .86Ghz and with fan running at full blast non-stop I can have nice cool temps, theoretically increasing my laptops life.

RM clock is not for overclocking. Its for undervolting so your laptop uses less power and it becomes cooler.

lol sure. because the T9600 is NOT different from any previous processor - right? LOL. While 3dmark may be mainly GPU it still measures CPU.

Its a 2.8ghz cpu what are you expecting??? It's already been shown that montevina gpu's are maybe 3% faster at best. There is already a 5793 review with a extreme cpu running overclocked and stock which is 2.8ghz. His 3dmark06 score is probably going to be around 9400.

Ok with the T9600 the max speed it throttles up to is 2.85 which is weird.

I received mine roughly 2 hours ago. Booted up and working fine. The fans do not bother me much. I noticed after installing my virus program of choice, the fans were working a bit more. I'll answer any questions to the best of my ability. During casual browsing: ACPI is currently at 44C. CPU1 is 22C. CPU2 is 15C. HDD is at 49C. (A little warm). GPU is at 52C. Taken with PC Wizard 08.

So the 8800M GTX simply runs hotter at idle, my 7950GTX idles at 35C(XP) and 38C(Vista).
Other than that, no improvement, and the noise thing is a bummer, darn.
Have you reinstalled the HotKey driver?
CPU temps don`t look ok to me, as in ...they are probably NOT that low.
I use HWMonitor and RMClock and they show a few C differences...
What, already set to flashing ? :D

May you enjoy your new laptop, minkang and make the best of it :)

No Nibitor makes me sad :( I am getting 2 1/2 hours on battery with cpu dc and 4/7 screen brightness. Nibitor would have gave me another 1 - 2 hours : (
If the 9800 is actually a rebranded 8800mgtx i wonder if flashing it with the 8800mgtx bios woulds screw it up. Cause Nbitor doesn't recognize the bios/board.
