Well on the 5793 the sounds was usually great. It was usually too quiet, but when SRS is turned on (Fn+2), it sounds a little better. I never really noticed much from the sub, but the bass response overall was pretty good for a laptop.

The NP5796 has tinny sound (poor bass) even with the eq set for bass boost and SRS on. The speakers also produce cracking if volume is high (so you have to keep them quiet to get acceptable quality) Fortunately, the speaker output is clear with the exception of the popping noises the Realtek HD makes.

Regardless, sound quality is much better than the M570A/U (much less whitenoise on speaker output). Still you'll probably want an external soundcard and speakers if you're an audiophile.

Compared to my Macbook Pro and Dell Inspiron E1705, the speakers in my 5793 make me cringe. They are very.. uh.. they.. work. That's about it.

Altec Lansing, Harman Khardon or any other named brand will blow them into the water.
It`s good, but not as good as the ones above.
But seriousely, most of time you`ll be using a headset or a set of speakers, and that`s where the laptop shines, it`s got a 7.1 output.. :D

It's what I did. Or more, you can add a Creative sound card, either USB, or express card and the sound will blow you away :D
