I'll preface this by saying I'm new to high-end graphics cards, but they make everything look very nice, but since I am new, I'm not sure if my theory makes sense, or is even possible.
Whenever I'm playing a game (specifically World of Warcraft or Civilization V) there are parts of my screen that tear even if v-sync and triple buffering are enabled. The tear almost 100% of the time seems to be related to a specific shade of gold/yellow. If I can remove that color from my screen, everything will return to normal. If I don't remove it, everything from that shade of gold (or halfway into the gold colored object) to the bottom of the screen will freak out and jump left and right very quickly, creating that sexy tearing look!
My question then is two-fold:
1) Is it possible for a shade of a color to cause this?
2) Is there anything I can do, or should I just wait for the next update?
I've already tried messing with the settings in CCC as I've seen suggested here and elsewhere.
Edit: Because I'm retarded I didn't include the specs for what I'm running:
model m980nu
2x 5870m in Crossfire
i7 940 XM processor
4GB ram
Win 7 (64 bit)
(And obviously) Latest driver release (8/24/10)

Try this:
Turn off V-sync and triple buffering in the game/CCC.
Download Rivatuner.
Go to the Rivatuner folder in the Start Menu, run D3DOverrider.
Set Detection to High; force Vsync and Triple Buffering. -
Okay, well, I installed Rivatuner and used D3DOverriver, and nothing seems to have changed.
I still experience a great degree of weirdness with this very specific shade of yellow/gold. The worst part is when I try to get a screenshot using prt sc I get an image that's fine, so it's difficult for me to really show people what's going on. -
That is definitely a strange issue. I'm not sure what to do.

I saw that crossfire users were having vsync issues over @Rage, they used a hotfix 10.8a driver to solve the problem. I don't know if there's a mobile version though.
-
Edit: and of course the weirdest part is that no matter how many color wheels and charts I look at OUTSIDE of games, I'm never able to reproduce the effect. I have no idea.
Edit 2: disabling CrossfireX solved the issue for me, but it pisses me off that I can't use the second video card I have for it's INTENDED purpose. Eh.
Edit 3: Even though I tried this before, forcing vsync to the highest setting in CCC and forcing triple buffering have fixed my issed with CrossfireX enabled. Idk, I guess I pissed off my computer. Thanks for your help, guys!
