With Intel drivers, it always shows "The selected network band isn't available" but when I use the default windows drivers it often lets me create the hotspot in 5GHz(but not always). Is there any way to fix this?

Are you connected to a network? Where are you doing this?

Yes, I'm connected to ethernet. I create hotspot from the menu which appears when you click the network icon in taskbar. [IMG]

I'd try swapping out the driver set you are using and report it to Intel.

Wait. Does this mean you can use a laptop or PC as a WIFI repeater?

I know that sounds silly but the need can come up - like trying to get a signal in the guest bedroom, or perhaps the garden.
You need it now, you need it lots, but you only need a temporary solution.

Hey... it works. Just created repeat to my mobile phone.

Just searched for mobile in settings. Even offered to do it over bluetooth.

    Intel 7620 in this laptop.

Ofc, just connect the laptop/PC to your WiFi and turn on the mobile hotspot option.

Not as good as a proper plugged in router/repeater but not bad in a pinch :)
