-
Still looking for an solution

moral hazard Notebook Nobel Laureate
I haven't messed around with this stuff for a long time, but can't you just ignore the error and flash anyway? -
... of course otherwize i wouldnt post it. i will even say i was with a weird 1BE1, Prema help me to flash a vbios but i cant even come back to my original vbios.....and prema told me he cant help me so..i m stuck without solution right now

One thing you can try is to flash EDID firmware with-out GSYNC into monitor. That will go through Linux if you find a dumped EDID from anyone who has this monitor (without G-Sync):
- find an EDID firmware backed up from another laptop with MonInfo.
- create a Linux Mint flash drive with a small persistent partition by Universal USB installer
- few commands in terminal and you flashed it.
Second is you can try to flash vBIOS directly onto GPU's flash microchip:
- do you have a photo to make sure that BIOS chip is high enough for clips?
- if it is so then you should buy clips and CH341A USB programmer (cheapest one although some people have troubles with it). Just put clips on the chip, save a dump from it as a backup, flash non-gsync vBIOS to it.
The problem here is that I only had 570M and BIOS chip on it was too low so that clip couldn't reach to those 8 legs. I am not sure that your GPU has a chip with long/high legs enough.Last edited: Jan 24, 2017bennyg likes this. -
long process thanks for description...will try it! but idk where to find an edid without gsync :s might it work if i use my 120hz edp screen? its another display who works 1080p 120hz. can i try this one on my 2k 120hz?

Well, EDID should be of the same monitor because it contains resolution, color range etc. I wouldn't risk flashing any other. I will search for EDID you need. Upload your EDIDs so I could compare those. Backup those by MonInfo>Save as
But you need just make those monitors to workwith GPU so any method will fit. USB programmer with clips costs like 5$. I bet you can afford buying one even if it won't be useful in this exact case, with that you can flash supported BIOS chips of notebooks, GPUs vBIOS etc. There is some small rate of bad luck when flashing chip may be unsucessfull without desoldering (usually some notebooks) but first you are to read and save dump from it and it can be compared to the actual vBIOS to see if it works as it should.
Clips for flashing chip on-board without desoldering, Budget USB Programmer. You can see supported list of 25 chips. You can doublecheck if the one on GPU is supported.Last edited: Jan 24, 2017bennyg likes this. -

can I put the 1070 in my p377sm-a?
-
attachement can't be downloaded now. Upload to external source.NVM, got it.
What about 4K AUO? I'd like to start from that one. So do you specifically want me to PM you with tytorial? And what if only 1 monitor will get compatibility?Last edited: Jan 25, 2017 -
ok lets pm
no, just one of both auo working, no need both
since i leave for vacation, i cant upload more -
Then order thah programmer and it will arrive after you come back from vacation. Or I would install real old graphics driver before gsync appeared. There is some small risk of modding before release drivers but I would do it. What do you think?
-
IMHO, g-sync probably isn't the problem...
-
I would say that it is definitely EDID problem. I already found 2 EDIDs for 4K panel so if you want to try those - we can. BTW Check if Linux will work fine or not (I use Mint 17.3): Download iso, create flash drive with Universal USB installer with persistent partition 300mb at least.Last edited: Jan 26, 2017

In linux, both screen working with nvidia driver installed. But noway to read edid screen from i2c...only xrandr --verbose command can read edid. if someone know how to override edid Let us know
-
Your 1070n is the one used in GT73VR or G65VR?
-
from a msi SLI edition, wich one, dont remember well
-
I'm just wondering if its got a G65VR vbios on it which as a SFF PC all the displays are handled by desktop video ports (DP/HDMI etc) and that's why they didn't bother putting any edid's in it.
-
yes, i use the msi vbios from their website. but i allready tried vbios from asus and clevo. All same bug
-
Hmmm, so you can flash to any vendor vBIOS 1BA1? Or you could before that gave noting and now you can't even flash any vBIOS?
-
before i had a 1be1 and after prema help me flashing to 1ba1, im stuck on 1ba1. i can flash any 1ba1 vbios. Cant flash any 1be1 where i saw the majority of vbios 1070n are this last one.
-
And when you were on original 1be1, was it working with new displays or you didn't have those then? I ask this because want to understand what vBIOS you will try to flash with a programmer to make it work with those displays.
-
Nope it wasn't working. i had all of them. These AUO panels works with 980m. It"s like maxell can run these auo display and pascal gpu can't run them. Or maybe because the gpu isnt recognize as official in bios, he cant recognize non official panels. Right now, just my original lg 120hz is working.
I baught (waiting delivery) an edp to dp driver to see if the gpu will recognize auo panels from dp port. -
To update the potential solution:
The screen AUO has to be officially recognize by system. Meaning if we can make hotkey brightness working with new displays, 1070n will be able to boot into edp.
I had this same issue on a p375sm system where old lg 1080p edp 120hz work with the laptop but doesnt support brightness hotkey has well.
If a modder can make the p377sma recognize officialy the new auo display, this laptop will still be as much awesome as the new release since sli is supported.
60$ offer to make working my b173zan01.0 or b173qtn01.0 into my P377sma+1070N
