The difference in the VRAM can be decisive in games like battlefield 3 where you need more memory for the textures.

I think you are talking about the gddr3 and gddr5 versions? In that case, I really think that the 2Gb version is the one to get.

So the 6110 would be better for bf3 than the 6165.

There's the spirit. Always check the reviews first. And I recommend waiting for the GT660m. A bit more powa never hurts....

    I wouldn't bet on it.
GDDR5 is a faster memory type than GDDR3.

And there is a resolution difference between 6110 and 6165... you don't want to use 1378x720 on the 6165 :)

660m will not be in the 6110 i think.

Except the 660M isn't going to be much faster than the GDDR5 650M. They're both clocked around the same and the one in the 6165 is using the same speed memory. The 650M has a lower TDP doesn't it? You could always overclock it slightly as well to make up any small difference.

Honestly I'd choose a machine with GDDR5 over GDDR3. Unless you're using multiple monitors and going above 1080p you won't really see a difference of having more memory. At least that's what I've been reading.

It looks like the 2GB version is GDDR3 and the 1GB is GDDR5 based on Xotic's site. The 11" gets the former, while the 15" and 17" get the latter.

So 2gig on the 650m of the 6110 is an up but because its a gddr3 then its not ok as compared to a 6165 with 1gig on the 650m but has gddr5. Win-lose situation/ negates each other. Anyway what is more important in a game like bf3, i mean what would you rather have if you cant have both gddr5 and 2gig on the 650m graphics card? A 6110 or a 6165? Damn all this research is making me crazy

To me bandwidth is much more important than simply having more memory. What I read is that GDDR5 will perform twice as fast per clock than GDDR3. GDDR3 creates a bottleneck in performance so even with more memory it should be slower than the GDDR5.

Yep, I'd definitely pick the GDDR5 card...too bad NVIDIA had gimped their GDDR5 version of the 555m, which was last gen.
