Hi Guys,
After a bit of advice on my laptop which got delivered today.
It's a clevo chassis with a 2.3 3rd gen quad, 8gb of ram ans 2gb 660m.
I am slightly concerned about the temps in gpu-z. Idling is fine i think at around 55 degrees but a quick trial with borderlands and cs:go the temps rocket quickly to high 80's and highest recored of 95 degrees.
Is this normal or should i push to have the GPU re-pasted? I ordered it with MX4 so i'm guessing it may take a little time to cure?
Any help would be great as it's being picked up tuesday to have the screen replaced so if there is a heat issue i can push to have this fixed on the same RMA.
Thanks.

welcome to nbr
if i were you i would download nvidia inspector, gpu caps view and core temps to monitor your cpu/gpu as i find gpuz giving slightly false readings on newer laptops.
you can find all 3 software in my signature below. -
Thanks for that, Nvidia inspector reports the same temps around 90 degrees whilst playing games. I'm sure that's way too high ?
-
Please provide the model as well.

There is supposed to be MX4 applied to the heatsinks too. -
when was the last time you cleaned your fans and vents out with compressed air. should be done regulary every 3-6 months as this is one of the main reasons for heat rise.
if you do clean them then we have to look elsewhere.
are you covered by warranty (hehehe, i couldnt resist). -
It's brand new mate, only got delivered to me 2 days ago.
Are you under the impression that the GPU temp is too high and it needs returning?
The GPU will boost to 950mhz, but i believe that is normal and have read other threads where they stress the 660m and temps do not raise over 70? -
my 680 was kicking out 89c after an hour of battlefield 3 but the ambient temperature of my room was at least 28c at the time.
temps did drop but i still got it repasted and and the highest i get now is mid 70s to
im not sure what the 660 should be but 90c is too high no matter what situation.
get onto support. -
W370ET only has 1 fan and the GPU heatsink fins are shared with the CPU.
This is what Mysn.de was getting when testing the W370ET:

Your temp do seem high. -
Did you get it fixed? What exactly was the problem?
I just got a W350ETQ and have the same issue. I monitored temperatures with HWMonitor and GPU-Z and played Diablo 3 demo and Torchlight 2 demo (with vsync enabled). It jumps from 50 to 90 C in a couple seconds and stays in that range. I got the IC diamond paste upgrade too...Attached Files:

That seems very hot. I really had to push my W350ETQ to go over 80c under CPU and GPU load, let alone 90c.
-
put an aluminium duct tape between the heatsink and the fan, put IC7 on the GPU core and put phobya thermal pad (optionally) on the vram it should lower your temp by at least 5° (up to 11° on my P150EM)
-
Well, my MSI GE60 has the same shared heatsink design and I get max temps of around 90C when gaming as well, so I think it's a design flaw to an extent. I've repasted once, but that only improved temps by a few degrees (though it was my first laptop repaste ever, so it's probably not a very good one).
What I've been noticing is that GPU temps get higher when the CPU is under load as well (which gets over 90C) because of the shared heatsink, so you might want to monitor your CPU temps a bit or try a Furmark test to see how hot the GPU gets alone. -
No doubt those temps are high. I have played a ton of BL2 and my temps never get above 65C. That game doesn't seem to push GPU's very hard.
660m temps
