so I turned on my laptop and run hwinfo then it shuts down and I notice some temps spiking from 37-50 . And I turn on back again and the temps spiking from 41-58 is this normal ?

well it depends what youre running in the background? any particular cpu load? if not, check your paste job, both beneath and on top of the ihs :) what paste are you using atm?

I'm using gelid gc extreme. Yea I think the bit defender is the culprit. I'll double check. I use a line method on the ihs and I use the pea method on heatsink

Yea I think I scratch some of the base on the CPU where the tiny lines go through the die? U think that's the reason why?

i hope it was a large pea, since the ihs is quite the large area to cover :)

scratched it during the delid? well then ure lucky the cpu actually even works :D but no, its not likely that this would cause the temp spikes.

The X Cross method is the best as it provides the max surface coverage with the least amount of air bubbles

Do you prefer putting Ic diamond on CPU die ihs and heatsink?

That can depend on the ambient temperature of the room, if the room is quite warm then i would say temps aren't bad. I use a P775DM3-G and using TG Conductonaut my CPU idles around 25-28 and my GPU around 35-36 with room temp around 19-20 and the system set to balanced and CC set to performance

CPU temps can change in micro seconds depending on the load they are under ;)

That's how it is on my system with a slightly higher CPU idle temp. What matters is how it performs under load

How low Idle temp you can manage, depends also on whether you use the balanced power plan in windows and enabled EIST and C-States (Auto, Offset, Overide or Adaptive voltage mode - frequency and voltage drop). For idle temp on the graphics card, it's the power settings you selected in NCP.
For comparison of Idle temp on your hardware, all of you should use the same power setup and have about same ambient temp. Otherwise will the result be completly wrong  And Yes bro @Phoenix Low load temp is KING :D Idle temp doesn't tell the whole story!!

At the moment I have everything set to stock, so no under volts etc. I'd only just reset the system and removed the BIOS battery and haven't got round to setting anything back up yet

Try running TimeSpy with Gsync disabled. There have been issues with Gsymc and some of the recent Nvidia drivers.

You are best turning G-sync off for benching due to the slight loss in score anyway.

Yea overclocking gives you more points but however whenever I play Crysis 3 my CPU temp goes up to 77-80 and gpu 85-90. So my aim is to somehow reduce the temperature to 70s. So I applied liquid ultra on CPU+ihs and Ihs + heatsink the temps are amazing on idle, around 30-35. I experimented also with the thermal paste on gpu using ic diamond and gc extreme. So I notice I get more power draw using gc extreme than ic diamond and lower temps at 35-45 on idle.

The power draw was likely just variation in load conditions, you need quite large swings in chip temperatures (think 20-30C) under load to get proper power changes.
