so I turned on my laptop and run hwinfo then it shuts down and I notice some temps spiking from 37-50 . And I turn on back again and the temps spiking from 41-58 is this normal ?

well it depends what youre running in the background? any particular cpu load? if not, check your paste job, both beneath and on top of the ihs
what paste are you using atm?
-
I'm using gelid gc extreme. Yea I think the bit defender is the culprit. I'll double check. I use a line method on the ihs and I use the pea method on heatsink
-
Yea I think I scratch some of the base on the CPU where the tiny lines go through the die? U think that's the reason why?
-
i hope it was a large pea, since the ihs is quite the large area to cover
scratched it during the delid? well then ure lucky the cpu actually even worksbut no, its not likely that this would cause the temp spikes.

Do you prefer putting Ic diamond on CPU die ihs and heatsink?

Thanks!! Did you put ic diamond in your Gpus as well?

Ok both gpus idle at 45 is it good ? CPU idle at 35-40
-
That can depend on the ambient temperature of the room, if the room is quite warm then i would say temps aren't bad. I use a P775DM3-G and using TG Conductonaut my CPU idles around 25-28 and my GPU around 35-36 with room temp around 19-20 and the system set to balanced and CC set to performance

CPU temps can change in micro seconds depending on the load they are under

For comparison of Idle temp on your hardware, all of you should use the same power setup and have about same ambient temp. Otherwise will the result be completly wrongAnd Yes bro @Phoenix Low load temp is KING
Idle temp doesn't tell the whole story!!

At the moment I have everything set to stock, so no under volts etc. I'd only just reset the system and removed the BIOS battery and haven't got round to setting anything back up yet

good to overclock @4.6ghz? running at 4.1 ghz

I have a question. Did you guys having a little bit of flickering while doing the CPU test in time spy?

what Nvidia Drivers are you using?
-
you think its the CC im using .73 version

That's weird because when i run the Time Spy CPU Test the Screen Flashes fast for like 4x. hmmnnn you think my cpu is defective? lol

Which reseller did you buy it from also? -
I have NP9873-S I ordered it from Sager

-
Yes g sync is enabled
-
-
Thanks! It's fixed now I re installed windows and installed the latest nvidia drivers and not flickering when I run time spy
-
So the culprit is the bitdefender
TomJGX, jaybee83, Papusan and 1 other person like this. -
So i use Liquid Ultra on cpu and Heatsink

You are best turning G-sync off for benching due to the slight loss in score anyway.
-
Yea overclocking gives you more points but however whenever I play Crysis 3 my CPU temp goes up to 77-80 and gpu 85-90. So my aim is to somehow reduce the temperature to 70s. So I applied liquid ultra on CPU+ihs and Ihs + heatsink the temps are amazing on idle, around 30-35. I experimented also with the thermal paste on gpu using ic diamond and gc extreme. So I notice I get more power draw using gc extreme than ic diamond and lower temps at 35-45 on idle.
-

The power draw was likely just variation in load conditions, you need quite large swings in chip temperatures (think 20-30C) under load to get proper power changes.
-
Alright what's your CPU frequency ? I overclock mine to 4.5 Ghz in all votes using clevo control panel but they not running all at 4.5ghz they at 4.2ghz

What did you change the power/current limits to and what power profile are you running in ccc and Windows?
-
i uninstalled ccc now high performance power settings on windows
is this normal? 6700k TDP 95W
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
6700k delid temp spike
