But the thing is the Fan seems really quiet and not at full blast.... anyone know whats wrong with it? CPU cools just fine max is 70sC

ICD 7 cool, I think the room temp is about 24C. nut when idel its about 45C so I think its mostly to do with the fan not spinning fast enough when needed..
Is it quiet common for this card to run moderately fast. I mean I can turn the fan to max using fn 1 but its got the pulsing bug.... any other options??

Trinox: if your on a sager branded laptop and you swap to Clevo bios, you can never go back to a Sager bios. It would brick the laptop. I am not saying you shouldn't, but that is a very important aspect of doing it. It is in the 1st page directions that Johnny alluded to.

I would personally go with the IC7 and invest in a laptop cooler. The IC7 will drop temps 3-5c and the cooler another 4 (my tests did at least).

I run the Witcher 2 at 84c max (on a 6990m) - maybe those adjustments get you to similar levels too? Math works...

I've flashed a 6990M bios on it , and it's not working that great have to revert all changes and drivers to retest if it's still causin crashes. =]

    Why?
It enables custom fan table ; to make the fan speed % scale with temperature =]

I also told him about some 6970m being faulty with tempurature, he didnt know about that either. Now he has told me that I should not use the laptop and will have to take it to the shop :( this sucks

Wow. I presume that is not one of the regular re-sellers we hear from on these boards. They seem to recommend a thermal paste change to fix heat problems - not remove your warranty. You re-seller should be thanking you for trying to address the problem yourself with an easy potential fix before harassing them. I would keep pounding them on the subject myself...

I will check this when i get home. It was one of the cheaper models, $30 bux from amazon (prime shipping too!). The fans seemed to line-up with our laptop's intakes though.

    Impressive drops from ICD7.

    I own a Clevo p170HM with a 6970M (Dutch label BTO) since July 11.

Two weeks ago my notebook shut itself down all of a sudden and I started monitoring system temps. My gpu also went to 100 ish degrees C pretty quickly during gaming. When idling it quickly rose from 45 to 55 ish degrees C.

So I RMA'd it and according to BTO it was related to dust! Gave me the odd advice to put a vacuum cleaner on the gpu exhaust once a week! They cleaned my fans, repasted the Arctic Silver paste and put on a new BIOS version. Now my idle temp remains around 46 degrees C and while gaming gpu temps dont surpass 82 degrees C.
I still find it hard to believe that after two months the gpu fans already collected too much dust. But hey, 3 years warranty so let's see what happens from now on.

It's not surprising considering how often those fans are spinning up, and that the intakes are on the bottom. If you're in even a moderately dusty environment, they'll suck up quite a bit of it. It's always a good idea to clean the fans/heatsinks fairly often. Considering it's quite easy to get to them and clean them, it's a simple task anyway :)

Repasting on the other hand shouldn't be necessary if it's done right the first time as TIM doesn't just "go bad".

Also, to keep your temps down- keep the machine on a hard level surface and possibly with the back end raised to help with ventilation. Most here note that it makes a pretty significant difference.
