Sorry, haven't had experience with those thermal pads, but just wanted to give +rep for the information :)

Quick question though, do you have the temps from before you replaced the pads?

I would compare those temps to mine, but my ambient is around 20-22*C max. So they wouldn't be able to compare.

Here are my results after 10 min of Furmark max settings. Keep in mind furmark is far more demanding than 3dmark. Room temp is 22*C.

It's best to apply a pea sized amount on the center of the GPU. Let the pressure from the heatsink spread the paste. I actually just repasted my gpu yesterday. Coming from MX-4 paste I saw nearly 10*C drop in temps. IC 7 is the same as 24. It just means tube size for the most part.

Thats how i applied it too, to decrease chance of airbubbles.
Also on stock pads, even though IC Diamond is thick enough to be used a replacement for the thermal pads.

IC Diamond should cure pretty quick. 2 hours is the recommended time, so after that your temps shouldn't change much.

This is unlike other pastes that may require 200+ hours to cure :)

Are you guys trixx or tray tools on your 6970m. Both seem to give me slight problems with 11.8 ccc. With trixx my card stay locked at 1.10 vgpu and my fan stays stuck at 30% (wrong reading in gpu-z maybe) rising temps up to 63° idle. And tray tools seems to give me more lock ups and lower max overclock as on Trixx.

edit: Installed the new ATT beta can't even get 850/1000 to pass the first 3DMark11 test even tough i can pass the full benchmark at 870/1120 with Trixx. Which version of ATT is everyone running here?

Did u apply it this way again? If so, this is wrong. Just drop a pea sized ball in the middle of it, and push it together once, do not twist, etc..

They have a decent tutorial on their site.

So you had a card fail and yet you still overclock it? Do you realize it will shorten the life of the GPU. Even though it seems to work fine now, some time later in the future, perhaps when your not doing so well financially it could fail again and then what? For the little amount of performance gain its not even worthwhile to risk the damage or the inconvenience of having to replace again.

Don't mean to be rude here, but it's his card and he can do whatever he pleases. Sure he had a card fail already but there is no way of knowing if OCing was the root of the problem. Especially since these cards have been failing randomly.

Honestly if overclocking really gave dramatic results, it might be worthwhile.. I am just warning him about the potential problems. Sometimes people just dont realize the consequences of seemingly innocent acts. I guess I am turning into my dad.

No overclock and mine runs 43C lowest temp I see in GPU-Z and 95C was the highest I saw. The 95C may have been before I lifted the back of the laptop up an inch. Since then it has not got anywhere near that hot. My room temp is rather cool as I live in Canada and our house has A/C. I would say the average room temp is less than 70F

    I don't get it.

How many times do you want us to check the card temps?

    The cards are fine.

Mine gets higher than that and it's fine.
