The 6990M is much better than the 570M. The 570M is more of a mid-range high-end card. The 6990M is the highest of high-end.

Either card will run Skyrim maxed out. So if the 570M is cheaper, and all you plan on playing is Skyrim, it may be a better choice.

I cannot confirm this. I have a 6990m and Skyrim is running smoothly. But as stated in the previous post the choice between the two is more about performance/money than game related.

I don't understand why people keep comparing mid-range Nvidia cards to the AMD flagships top-end.

Come on, do you really think Nvidia is THAT much better?? Look at their ridiculous prices!!!

The guys from nvidia are sponsoring game developer companies in order to get "optimizations" for their cards, wich in my opinion are NOT much betteer than AMD's. And with all that advertising going on - we, the customers, pay RIDICULOUS prices for their cards.

I really hate that price-policy from nvidia and this is why Im going with AMD. I like to get what I paid for and nvidia gives you a lot less than what their price is.

Well said b0b1man. I actually have been very impressed with this 6990m. I play everything maxxed out, (except for BF3, some ultra some high) on a mobile system. With the price difference between the 580m and the 6990m, it's a no brainer in my books. Unless you have the cash to burn the AMD card wins out.

The only thing I miss from Nvidia cards is Digital vibrance and driver support, but I don't think those options are worth $300 price difference.

Hardware speed is not the only aspect of someone's purchase. They have to look at drivers and cost as well.
