At first when I bought my malibal p150hm laptop most of the games ran at above 40fps with 1080p.
However, after 30 minutes the games start to stutter and the frame rate just keep dipping. I though something in windows was running in the background but I was wrong.
After lots of tries with many games I recorded the temp. of the 6990m using GPU-Z and found that after 30 min. the temp. reaches to 99 degrees. Thus making the 6990m throttle to reduce the temp.
A simple solution I used was to put bottle caps on the 4 sides of the laptop to raise it up. Surprisingly, it worked making the max. temp. 78 degrees.
Am I the only one with such problem or this is normal????????

Thanks for the thread but my problem gets solved by just raising up the laptop so is this normal???? -

As Prasad said, lifting the laptop up a bit is only a temporary fix, I would definitely recommend taking the backplate off your laptop and spraying compressed air through the vents and fans. You also may want to make sure your heat sinks are securely in place.

Each heat sink should be held onto the CPU or GPU with probably four screws. Wiggle it about and see if there is any play. It should be held securely, as it will only conduct the heat away if it is in full contact with the top of the chip. You will need to repaste and reset the heatsink if it is loose.
6990m overheating!!!
