Everything is the same between these two laptops except for the case (the 7680 looks a lot better in my opinion), and the graphics card. The 7680 has a brutally bad 9300m, and the 2096 has a more respectable 9600.

Now I still play a few games, Starcraft/WC3/some CS 1.5/1.6, but thats really about it... when SC II comes out I'm planning on playing that too. I do a lot of video editing/programming/and browsing.

Do you guys think it's necessary to go for the 9600? The 7680 has the other advantage of being almost a pound lighter, and will probably run at a much lower temperature (GPU wise it's 8watts vs 23watts or something like that).

Thanks for any help, I've been stuck all week waiting on a 2096 review to help me decide (hopefully that comes today).

If you want to play new games, then you would want at least a 9600M.

But a 9300M should be able to play all old games fine, and new games a low settings.
