    Hello,

I have the Clevo p170em with the 7970m and I have enough of the problems with the drivers and under utilization. I play mainly League of Legends and I would like to be able to have a high framerate which with the 7970 I can't achieve cause the card is working at 65% even with the latest 13.11 beta 6. I tried the direct x 9 fix and the13.11 Mobility Beta3(Enduro MOD) without any changes.

So I am inclined to buy the 770m and install it. Will I have there such problems? Is it compatible? What fps can I except? Is there a market for used 7970m so I can sell mine?

Many thanks in advance for your responses.

What kinds of framerates is lol giving you. As that game is not realy demanding and even weaker cards are able to run it at 60fps with detailes maxxed out. So your 7970m shouldnt even be taxed more than 60ish % at fhd. There are options inside lol to raise frame cap if you wish. Not even my m8900 (6970m chip) is fully taxed in lol. If i fire up bf3 or world of tanks then usage is pumped to 100%.

what is your fps now? i can get 220-230fps before minion launch(benchmark mode) and in fight ~150-180fps. Usually i force my fps to constant 80-90fps, which is more than enough. Have you used driver sweeper/driver fusion when removing the older driver?

I get the same you get, just in teamfights after 40min i get a massive drop in fps, around 30-45. So you are saying that i can get only the 680 without any modifications? Doesnt the nvidia laptop cards perform better in league of legends? In other gamers i get normal fps, just lol is pissing me off cause i mainly play this.

Have you checked out your CPU temperatures? Maybe after a period of time it is throttling and causing a decrease in GPU load and FPS.

    ^^^^

DL a CPU monitor, you're most likely heat throttling.

Yes i have, cpu is around 60 degreas celsius, that is not the problem. Its a problem with the drivers for the 7970m. So the only way is to get along with the problem or buy a 680m?

It seems that way, driver issues are a pain in the.

60 degrees during gameplay? Have you double checked using XTU to make sure there is no weird behaviour from it?

I can't install XTU it gives me a error message. But what should be the problem with the cpu? I haven't noticed anything out of the order. Its the i7 3630QM.

You really want to measure the behavior of each chip in the system to see where a problem stems. If the cpu spikes to 100% load then maybe a background task is eating resources or if it drops in frequency either it is temp/power throttling or the brick is struggling.

After a format and installing the latest drivers I get the same results. Although I can install now XTU and it reports no thermal throttling or anything unusual. GPU usage stays the same around 60%.

I'm not sure and I don't want to download a program to measure it. Guru3D would have a download link for the mobility version of 13.9 and I found the Intel 2875 driver in clevo's download section (the newer version in Sager's section is only for Windows 8). Both will work very well with your laptop.
