Been playing planetside 2 and FFXIV Beta this weekend.

Seems there is slight screen tearing/stuttering. It's not major, but I can see it and its bugging me slightly.

Presume this is a driver issue?

Currently running Windows 7 and 311.27.

Anyone chip in with anything helpful?

I would imagine it's either driver related or an optimization issue per game developer's end; especially with the beta of FFXIV.

    P.S. How is Final Fantasy?

Realm Reborn looks pretty damn slick. I'm in the Beta as well.

Well, I played FFXI Online for 7 years. Then played FFXIV for a year. So I'm a little biased. I think it's got the potential to be the best MMO out there. Beautiful looking game.

How is your GPU Usage on planetside 2 ? Mine is average 30%-40% so I get 20fps in High :(
Really, what is Nvidia waiting for !

I was getting 20fps in Ultra and 25-30fps in High.
    Don't remember the GPU usage.

    Will check tonight and see.

Planetside 2 is notoriously poorly coded, and it generally CPU bound. Don't expect a better GPU to make it run faster, and instead demand that the developer optimizes the code.

I have no problem running it on my desktop (3570K, 7950) so I expected it to run the same (CPU is more powerful, GPU is a bit lesser).

The 3570k is way more powerful than the 4700MQ. Way more. And that's where the loss in FPS is coming from.

I agree it's poorly optimised. Their forums are full of people complaining about it.

The new Beta Drivers, 320.49 are out. So will see how it plays later on tonight. Won't be able to test FFXIV until next beta weekend on Friday.

I'll be testing the game this weekend as well. I'm interested to see how your setup performs with that game, please let us know this Friday!

By the way, how many different driver versions do you plan on using to test it this weekend?

Ill be on Planetside 2 tonight. Will get back to you.

Ill be sticking with the new 320.49 beta drivers for now. Depending on how the gaming goes.

    Been playing Planetside a little.
On Ultra settings, no Vsync, I was getting highs of 55fps, Lows of 24fps and Average of 35fps in a heavy battle.

Seems to be better on what I was previously getting on the old drivers.

Well I've tested with the new drivers and I have constant 60fpa in Ultra (in Warp gate) with the new drivers. My problem was my CPU in Eco Mode so it was imitating the GPU.

Eco mode? Where is that setting. Sure I've changed all CPU setting to performance anyway.

Yeah I get nice 60fps in warp gate too. Looks brilliant.

Anyone else still getting some screen tearing?
Starting to drive me a little mad.
Have the new beta drivers installed, but still no luck.

Have you been on the beta servers to test today dquancey? I just played until I was kicked off for a 1 hour maintenance.

    Was playing yesterday, yes.
Get constant 60fps with vsync on outside the cities.
Get no less than 30fps whilst at Ul'dah.

Brilliant game. Ill be playing on release. Don't need to pay as I bought the original. :)

The 3570K shouldn't be THAT much stronger than a 4700MQ... the speed is less, but the threads should make up for it if a program can use plenty cores. Am I wrong?

Great. I'm in the same situation as you. I'd like to be playing the release version on a machine similar to yours. I'm partial to 17" models though so I'm digging around for all the info on the P177SM I can find.

Did you know that the game will be upgraded to DX11 when it is released on the PS4?

Edit: Check your PMs also, dquancey.

I only went 15" as I play on the sofa or in bed generally. Colleague of mine has P170EM and its pretty big. Too big, for me infact.

    Replied to your PM also!

Didn't know about DX11, that's good news. It's a lovely game, but feel it could be better, graphically.

Have you played any games utilizing DX11? I'm curious how the 780M handles something such as that.

    I don't think I have tbh.

It's eaten everything I've thrown at it so far.

OH WOW. I must have been sleepy as hell to post this in the wrong thread. Sorry!
