To be honest, I'd wait to see the price for the 8800M GTX then make your decision then :)

supposedly the 8800m GTX will blow the 7950 away. I would definitely wait for that.

Maybe not upgrade right when it comes out but wait until the first price drop.

Or, wait until the game you want to play comes out and would benefit from it.

7950 will be outdated very soon, not to say that it will not be a strong card still though.

I plan on getting dual 8800M sometime in the next 6 months most likely.

i got a 7950 in mine KNOWing the fact i would wait till like next year then go dual of watever the newest is. 7950 is good now, but just wait for the 8800 at least. A single 7950 gets you max bioshock... and medium crysis/COD4... just wait for next summer and u'll be seeing 8900s... 9800s! DX10.1.. etc... just wait it out, your money will go further and u dont need it yet.

According to Nvidia benchmarks, a single 8800GTX blows a 7950 SLI setup out of the water.

you people making the 8800GTX looks like it doubles 7950GTX SLI, it DOESNT blow that setup out of water, it does the exact same performance, and sometimes the dual 7950GTX beating it.

One 8800m GTX beats the 7950SLI and the 8800m GTX is new, with more drivers, just wait. Now imagine the dual 8800m GTX instead :)

think about sli compatibility... not many games use it well or at all. I say go with a more powerful single card.

I would go for single 8800GTX than Sli 7950 also considering the power and heat factors.

    D091C Laptop.

I had the 7950's [SLI] with a E6700 and then a X6800 cpu. My best 3dMark06 was 10008, with the 7950's oc. The 7950's are easy to oc, while the 8800's are not. If you look at recent postings, a single 8800 non-oc hits this range. My updated Laptop with 8800 SLI hit the 13800 area non-oc.

My recommendations based on price. If you are buying new Laptop, get the 8800. If you have an older m/b and one 7950, pick up a second used card for SLI, for maybe $300 to $400 total cost for the updgrade, as it is and easy install yourself. Upgrade the cpu by yourself at the same time, which is also cost effective as these cpu's are "old" technology.

Why did I upgrade then? Because I can [I can easy afford it as I can write allot of the cost off to my business] and because I needed a m/b upgrade to move to a E8400 cpu, which runs much cooler than the X6800 did.

The 7950 SLI was a REALLY nice set up. It runs programs and games REALLY nicely. But if it is cost effective and convenient for you, a single 8800 will work as a direct replacement for the two 7950's. It really a matter of cost....

Yes i agree it is a matter of budgets T_T
right now most 8800gtx configs are all above my 2000 range.

I'm breaking my own heart,if you'd see how much care I take of my Sager, you'd think I`m a freak.
But neither Justin or Paladin reported a possibility of an upgrade to the 9800M GTX or to the 570TU, so I have to let it go before I lose the chance...

Eleron... dont do it! It may not be confirmed but the 570 and D901 have been getting the same video cards at the same time. And the 9800M NEEDS a laptop to go in. And since clevo is not introducing any new 17" chassis... it HAS to go in the 570 or 901.... but if it goes in one, it should fit in the other... Visa Vi... the 570 and 901 WILL get the 9800M GTX!

I know what you're saying, but 8800M GTX SLI is still better than single 9800M GTX ...

The 9800M GTX is going in the 570TU, the montevina refresh of the 570RU. The 901C is not getting a refresh so there is no guarantee that it will fit in either the 570ru or the 901c...
