It seems like the GPu only wants to work 40-60% of the time during a fresh boot. When the computer off and is turned on...% of the games loads up until something 3D* is about to load it stays on a black screen. MSI Kombuster will load in the background and use the CPu. I cant say that it is using the Gpu because combuster wont load up. (click on kombuster nothing happens but cpu load goes up and under task manager its there. nothing else. Most of the time when it does work i put it to sleep and it works perfected. But until it works... i have to keep rebooting and testing if the Gpu decides to work. The computer works fine when the gpu doesnt kick in.

I would half expect something like this from a Windows 8 system, but not as much from Windows 7. Have you run stress tests on the CPU? It almost sounds like something is wrong with the MMX instruction code set on the CPU.

And no: AMD/ATI did not put a stop to updates. They are currently on 12.11 (BETA) for the 7900 series, and 12.10 is the stable/WHQL release.

Are you using the Enduro 7970M Performance driver? If you are, it is the fault of the driver, and it is happening to everyone. The 12.11 beta driver does not have this problem.
