    7970M Failiure

    Hey guys,

    I need some help over here, I think my 7970M went puff, because as I was playing a game, the computer suddenly froze, after power down/power up, the windows wouldn't boot. I got into safe mode and uninstalled the driver from the 7970, the windows booted, after I installed the driver again (from 13.10b8 to 13.11b9) it failed to boot in the restart. I went into safe-mode and disabled the driver, the windows boots and the computer works but obviously the 7970 is offline...

    I would guess the graphics card is done for, what do you guys think? I think I'll go back to the store soon to get it replaced, but before I thought to come here to know if it might be just a software problem or you guys know some way to fix it...

    Try removing the driver completely using Driver Fusion and install the latest WHQL driver.

    I agree with using something like driver fusion, but the WHQL driver isn't really necessary.

    I would also try a repair to see if it can find anything wrong in the registry, and as a last ditch effort a complete reinstall of the OS incase something got major corrupted that a repair can't handle fixing or noticing needs fixing for whatever reason.

    Maybe try reseating the card too for grins.

    I just tried a full OS install, same thing, though I tried disabling the HD4000 driver, it booted, then I tried to see if the gpu was detected by GPU-Z, it is detected, but what bugs me is while looking at the sensors, I tried to save it to log, this was the log of the HD7970

    By reseating you mean to dismount it an mount it back again?

    Edit: Oh and this install is with the latest Intel drivers and the 13.9 whql from amd
