oh dear, looks like something went wrong and I cant see my original post. Anyhoo, i had just heard from pcspecialist.co.uk that they wont be receiving their 7970m shipment till mid June, so I'm wandering if anyone knows whether the same will apply to the whole UK / EU region?
-
Did you hear this direct from pcspecialist? their forums says they hope the delay is only a few days, but mid June would make it a 2 week delay.
I have an order with them, and if this is true, I may cancel and go somewhere else. -
yep, spoke to one of their sales reps. They said they've only just found out about the delay.. I really hope its not UK wide, as I've already sold my laptop in anticipation of 7970m release and now have nothing to game / work on.
-
I haven't heard anything.. and I've talked to quite the amount of EU resellers..
-
Well, having emailed pcspecialist, it appears to be true.
They are saying the best case is that they get them mid june, but could be even later.
Not good news at all... -
Guys, I would like to ask where is a good place to buy this card in EU? I know upgrademonkey on ebay sells it at 543 euro, which is about 680 USD, I think that is a bit overpriced, no? I've also found this site, but I don't know if I can trust it.. when I email them, the response is very short an not formal or professional looking..

You could ask PWN or PC specialist in the UK also. Make sure you get the modded vbios if upgrading an older HM model.
-
-
um no, the modded vBIOS is with gpu switching switched off in order to be able to run properly on machines without iGPU
-
I would recommend PWN PCS as well, - excellent service and probably the lowest prices I have seen.
-
does POWN PCS have the 7970m with the modded bios??thx!!
-
I've sent them an email this morning but have yet to receive an answer, they are probably busy with handling all those 7970m orders
Btw I guess pwnpc's are using clevo cards right? Those have enduro enabled so that isn't going to work.. but what if I flash this vbios: http://forum.techinferno.com/general-notebook-discussions/1736-amd-7970m-modified-vbios.html Will it work then? since it's a dell vbios.. -
ok, before we mix things up here, this is whats important to know for HM machines:
DELL cards wont work at all on clevo HM laptops, forget about it!
CLEVO cards DO work, but ONLY with the modded CLEVO vBIOS which has gpu switching disabled -
upgrademonkey Company Representative
upgrademonkey has the 7970M and 680M in stock right now

This made me laugh - Ebay link
~ 1200 $ gluck with that!

-
do You want to buy only 7970 card?
try to contact bluemobility in poland
they should have available gpu right now
BLUEMOBILITY -
-
as far as i know, only sager and mythlogic offer the 7970M gpus with the vBIOS preflashed. the modded vBIOS is not available to the public yet, unfortunately. we have to wait for the first HM user to have the card in hands, then he/she could dump the vBIOS for us others to flash ourselves
-
-
hey buddy, always glad to help out a fellow colleague with a previous gen machine
got my card at R&J Tech, they offer a separate option for the HM machines including the modded vBIOS that deactivates enduro/switchable graphics
check out their website for additional info: R&J Technology, Clevo Barebone Notebook kits, Laptop and desktop system builder
cheers -

well thats the funny thing: including shipping and import taxes its still cheaper than getting it from ebay with a UK location (=no import tax to germany) and free shipping
its cuz of the favorable USD - EUR exchange rate, altho it has gotten worse in the past few weeks...
shipping with USPS was 65.75 USD and i expect the import tax to be approximately 90 USD
cheers
