oh dear, looks like something went wrong and I cant see my original post. Anyhoo, i had just heard from pcspecialist.co.uk that they wont be receiving their 7970m shipment till mid June, so I'm wandering if anyone knows whether the same will apply to the whole UK / EU region?

Did you hear this direct from pcspecialist? their forums says they hope the delay is only a few days, but mid June would make it a 2 week delay.

I have an order with them, and if this is true, I may cancel and go somewhere else.

yep, spoke to one of their sales reps. They said they've only just found out about the delay.. I really hope its not UK wide, as I've already sold my laptop in anticipation of 7970m release and now have nothing to game / work on.

Well, having emailed pcspecialist, it appears to be true.

They are saying the best case is that they get them mid june, but could be even later.

    Not good news at all...

Notebookbarebone.de is also owned by the sole operator Michael Seiler who owns the more known Notebookguru.de.
Some members had good expirience with him and some had huge problems with their transactions. If you search on these forums youll find the threads. Deal with him at your own risk.

You could ask PWN or PC specialist in the UK also. Make sure you get the modded vbios if upgrading an older HM model.

The modded vbios is for dual graphics right? I won't be needing that, since I'm upgrading a gx660r, which has first generation i7 without integrated graphs :)

I would recommend PWN PCS as well, - excellent service and probably the lowest prices I have seen.

ok, before we mix things up here, this is whats important to know for HM machines:

DELL cards wont work at all on clevo HM laptops, forget about it!

CLEVO cards DO work, but ONLY with the modded CLEVO vBIOS which has gpu switching disabled

as far as i know, only sager and mythlogic offer the 7970M gpus with the vBIOS preflashed. the modded vBIOS is not available to the public yet, unfortunately. we have to wait for the first HM user to have the card in hands, then he/she could dump the vBIOS for us others to flash ourselves :)

well thats the funny thing: including shipping and import taxes its still cheaper than getting it from ebay with a UK location (=no import tax to germany) and free shipping :p
its cuz of the favorable USD - EUR exchange rate, altho it has gotten worse in the past few weeks...

shipping with USPS was 65.75 USD and i expect the import tax to be approximately 90 USD :)

    cheers
