"We’re also working to get the Alienware M17x R4 with HD 7970M, which will allow us to specifically see how much performance is affected when we enable/disable Enduro support"

This is what I'm waiting for :D

looks promising, cant wait for proper benchmarks - he seems to be testing max fps in each game when he should test average. doesnt matter though, it looks like there is a definite improvement, even if under utilization isnt completely fixed.

Same. I was actually going to post the exact same comment as you in that article but you beat me to it. I just replied instead. I want to know how close the hotfix gets us to a "bypassed Enduro" performance. Of course, AW and Clevo even with the exact same specs will still have some differing variables but it's close enough to let us know how good this hotfix is.

I'm also happy it won't be by the end of October. I really hope this is it. I'm so tired of this crap.

If I have an Alienware, I will just bypass it. Why sacrifice the 5% utilization? I will want to max out every possible power/speed/strength/magic/mana/chakara from the vid card as much as possible.

The AW has a 680M. Nice to see the 7970M is right behind 680M most of the time

Waiting for that AW 7970M vs Clevo 7970M showdown.

Guys, did you know AMD still develops drivers for the AGP HD 2000 through HD 4000?
    AMD Catalyst

Yep, a 12.6 driver for AGP. That is true care for the customer. Now tell me with a straight face that you aren't sure whether AMD will continuously support the 7000m series with improvements during the next few years!

I am very excited not only for the improvements to come for Enduro specifically, but for GCN as a whole, which is having many issues. This generation is probably the hardest AMD has had to deal with in a very long time, due to the fact of how unique the new architecture is. Over time, AMD will eventually master the driver set for GCN. It is going to be a great ride!

Do they really develop new drivers or are they just including the old drivers with the package? Lets not sing AMD's praises yet, their support leaves a lot to be desired when you compare them to competition. People seem to have very short memories here, as soon as a fix is announced they forget how much relentless forum campaigning it has taken in the last 7 months for AMD to respond. It was only in August that AMD basically said "we are aware of the problem, speak to Clevo, its their issue".
