I'm on the fence for that upgrade 'cause I need my HDMI out working.

We've got people editing BIOS's here. Surely there's somebody there that can tweak a driver to make HDMI work. :)

HDMI should be working fine. Do you have another monitor hooked up to the DVI or DP?

I know on my 6990m a separate driver is installed for hdmi output. I can only assume the windows is not seeing the hdmi port which possibly tells me a hardware interface issue? I sure hope I am wrong...

It is a driver issue I believe. The Windows is seeing the HDMI port wirhout the driver installed. So the hardware is working fine.

DVI a no go either? I know we had a dual port with the 6990M but even that was only single because they did not connect it up properly but single may work?

One of the most soul destroying things with the HM for me was no displayport. Had to sell it. :( I even have one on my M11x for League of Legends running above 60fps. lol

yes, that is a doable, but no sound will be transmitted under such configuration. sad for users who would like to have uncompressed PCM 5.1 sound out to their receivers.

HDMI ports in the HM series work in all compatible video cards including GTX 680M. the issue is only affecting 7970M.

yes, it's a never ending story with 7970m. :). the performance/price ratio of this card is unbeatable. however, the operational controls within the AMD system seem ineffective compared to Nvidia. this is understandable with such a price difference.

anyway, it won't hurt AMD to spend a little from its internal audit resources toward a review of quality control procedures. ;)

Just got myself a DVI 24+1M to HDMI F adapter. Works, but doesn't transmit sound - shouldn't the card have some sort of audio controller that would make this possible? Perhaps my adapter doesn't support it?

I read somewhere amd not supporting hdmi out anymore but realtek are. Look for the drivers there and see if you can integrate them with catalyst.

I installed the 7970M upgrade kit in my P150HM yesterday. I bought it from Eurocom's eBay store. It came pre-flashed so all I had to do was plug it in, apply some IC7, and screw in the heat sinks. I'm using Catalyst 12.11.

The HDMI works fine! Did this issue get resolved? In the BIOS, the GPU is listed as "Empty", VBIOS is blank, and the VBIOS date March 2012. Anyone else have working HDMI with the 7970M in HM?

Sorry to bump a month old thread but I didn't know whether it was worth starting another thread.

Well in bios VBIOS reads:BR042817.008 and VBIOS date reads 04/06/12. Vbios file from Jaybee's excellent thread.
HDMI is still not working, I just tried it on my Panasonic Viera. I also have 12.11 beta 11...
You seem to have an earlier VBIOS. Dump it and I'll try it.

nice, go ahead and try that vbios steberg :) would be excellent if we could actually use HDMI now with an OLDER version vBIOS haha :p how ironic would that be?

@tbert03: use GPU-Z in order to dump ur vbios. for that, just click on the button on the left side of the "BIOS Version" field and upload that file :) much appreciated buddy!

@johnnyman27. 100% sure. I was so surprised it worked since everything I've read indicates that HDMI does not work with the 7970M in HM. Heck, I even bought a DVI to HDMI cable so I could use my external monitor, which is now useless :D (the cable that is).

@steberg. I'd love to share my VBIOS but don't know how to. Care to enlighten me? My monitor is an Asus V236H and it's getting 1080p input via HDMI. What is your system BIOS and EC/KB firmware? My BIOS is .14 and EC/KB is .13, although it might be the other way around. I'm at work so I can't check atm. It is kind of strange that in BIOS setup, the GPU slot is listed as "Empty". It may even be better to contact Eurocom or its eBay store (upgradeyourlaptop) directly and see if they can send you whatever they are flashing to their 7970M upgrade kits for HM series.

@jaybee83. Okay, will do when I get home around 7 PM EST.

I have P150HM bios .14 and EC .13, so we are on level there. I'm using my W110ER now for Netflix and gaming on my Panasonic via HDMI. I would love to use my HM instead. When I start up the computer I can see the Bios Logo on the Panasonic so clearly a signal is reaching the TV via HDMI, but as windows loads it disappears. Windows will not recognize the Panasonic, tells me no display connected... This has been the bad part of upgrading my HM to 7970, I'm using HMDI daily.
BTW I bought the 7970M EM-card, so I had to blind flash it, which was a no brainer because of Jaybees thread.

that "empty" listing is normal, thats what it always says after installing a 7970M into an HM machine :) what im more curious about is that it states the same in your vBIOS revision/version. as steberg mentioned before, when using the modded vBIOS from my blind-flashing thread it states the revision in the system BIOS.

when u dump ur vBIOS with GPU-Z, could u also make a screenshot of GPU-Z? would be interested to see what ur "BIOS Version" field lists :)

PS: OH YEAH! my 2960xm arrived at the post office today, hopefully ill be holding it in my hands tonight :D

Thats a really old Dell/AW vBIOS for a 7970m. Same basic timings as the Clevo one, but clearly makes the HDMI work?

hey myth, any chance for ur guys to analyze the specific differences between this vbios and the standard modded clevo one in order to determine what exactly makes the hdmi work/not work?

We can make inferences, but because Clevo never published that specific version we can't really do that, but I can tell you that the vBIOS are basically made with a config file (think Linux Kernel config file) that controls what features work etc. It shouldn't be a huge deal to flash it onto another 7970m if you want the HDMI to work. EM or HM it should all work, in theory :)

typical of eurocom to use an unpublished/inofficial version of a vbios :p ES cpus/gpus, anyone? :D

well for me hdmi is not really that important, so far ive only used it once ever since i got this machine almost 2 years ago :)

So I flashed my 7970M with tbert03 bios, and the flash is successful, it reads 3/13/12 as vBios date and vBios revision is blank, just like tbert03 wrote. But HDMI is still not working, so it must be on hardware level... Anyway I'm benching the crap out of my 7970 to see if this older bios is a keeper, or else I will just flash back.

Could you please dump your main BIOS with Afuwin and upload:

    https://www.rapidshare.com/files/2767281612/afuwin64.rar

Just use default settings and hit save.

Did you do a clean driver install after the flash. ;)
