wow thats a very low max core overclock, cant even get to the stock 7970m.
even the gtx 560m 3GB overclocked a lot higher than that. -
mostly clevo 7970m are reporting problems on bf3 Multiplayer, singleplayer is fine which some people only tested instead of online. mx17 owners are stable at bf3 multiplayer having enduro off.
-
FWIW, the GPU cooling looks kinda weak compared to the M17x, but then again, it's the same type of heatsink used for the GTX 580M and people were able to overclock it like hell with it regardless...
-
There are a few videos for clevo systems with the 7970. They came up recently, I thought you guys might like to check them out if you hadn't already.
AMD 7970m BF3 Multiplayer test - YouTube -
yep i made it, im 1detarrednu on youtube. i was overclocked on 940/1400. even changed the settings around and fps is still very unstable. look at the gpu usage and how it bounces around too. but singleplayer campaign is fine.
i was running on 12.7 beta and tried 12.6 also, stll same performance. alienware users seem to be stable on bf3 multi. i think its the way the 7970m is connected to the igpu on clevo laptops, and is making enduro not running right and probably keeps switching gpus DURING gameplay. but its only a wild guess.. -
its not the way they are connected that causes enduro to have problems
enduro just has problems and alienware users can disable it we cant -
Word. Recon like a bause. Anyways, thanks for the vids, your performance is still light years ahead of my old system regardless of stability so I'm not too bummed out about getting the 7970 early. I'm sure AMD will get it fixed. Hopefully they just allow you to toggle the Enduro on or off. I liked it that way with the Alienware systems, it worked nicely.
-
The way that the systems are designed prevents Enduro from being turned off. On an Alienware computer, the GPU output passes through a muxer hooked up to a display. One GPU can be turned on or off without affecting the output.
On a Clevo system, dGPU output passes through the iGPU. If the HD 4000 is deactivated, video output stops. The dGPU can be turned off, but not vice versa. -
Well then, I guess we'll have to rely on AMD and Clevo getting together to get Enduro to just plain old work.
-
The first 7970M WHQL driver should be interesting. It would be the first official Microsoft certified support for Enduro and the 7970M.
-
really hoping its gonna be 12.7 WHQL, the beta does support the 7970m so its promising, and it supposedly coming out by the end of July.
-
*crossing fingers*
-
Unfortunately a lot of times the pre-release covers ALL GPU's but final WHQL does not frequently include mobile. In any case part of it is just getting WHQL certification and the pre-release drivers are just as good as the WHQL sometimes better because they unlock features not in WHQL.
-
should be interesting to see if the lack of switchable graphics (thus enduro) somehow influences the choice of drivers (maybe expanding the possible choices and letting 12.6 whql work properly?) cant wait to start tinkering!
just did the bank wire transfer to R&J this morning
-
How much was it including transport?
-
480 USD for the gpu kit + 65.75 USD for USPS international shipping
add to that 19% import tax to germany (= 91,20 USD) and 34€ for the wire transfer itself
funnily, its still cheaper in total than ordering from a UK reseller on ebay (free shipping, no wire transfer costs, no import tax)

RJTech added 170Hm w/ Hannstar LCD this means (as 5min chat) 170EM with modded vbios.
-
nice, glad to hear for the P170HM users
-
Played Max Payne 3 for 10 minutes at work. FPS was between 35 and 116, I'd say I was averaging around 50-70.
-
I hope you are talking about the 680M...
Cause the 7970M ... AMD Radeon HD 7970M 2 GB GDDR5 RAM MXM 3.0B, Notebookbarebone.de Notebooks selber bauen! -
+1 --> just fill the order.
-
Without Heatsink, without screws, etc., only the bare card!
As for modded Vbios???
"You get exactly what you see in the pictures!"??? -
"...Without Heatsink, without screws, etc., only the bare card!..."
as far as i understood, for the price he pays at RJTech, he is getting the complete package
edit: too slow
-
Actually it does. I'm running the 12.7 beta, unmodified now. Just installed the intel drivers from the Clevo, everything else is 12.7.
-
You can ask for those separately, it's the shop of notebookguru.de.
The only thing they might not be able to give you is the modded vBIOS, but that will soon be up on this forum. -
Also if you have an amd already, you don't need anything else.
