    Hi,

I just received a P150EM and I did a clean install. However, when trying to install the 7970m drivers, half way through, the screen will flicker 2 times and the 3rd flicker it will remain black for 10 minutes and the blue screen appear.

However, if I force restart the computer during the black screen, it will seem as though the driver has been installed. Scored 5800 on 3dmark11 but I am playing battlefield 3 at 40fps on medium.

Any suggestions? I am using the clevo dvd drivers, I also tried the mod drivers from alienware forums but that didnt work too.

Thanks! I am kinda worried here.

Have you tried the drivers from the Clevo homepage?

For some reason Clevo took down the drivers.

Thanks, usually dvd drivers are the only reliable ones, it'd be interesting to see how stable these new drivers are :D

I had the same issue. The drivers on the cd are the same as those on the Sager website (and the ones on the sager website took me 4 hours to downlaod :( )

The new beta drivers worked for me as well.

    Thanks!

    Just ran 3dmark11 got P5578 3Dmarks (5660 graphics, 6808 physics, 4046 combined)!!! super psyched!

That score is actually too low for your computer, since P5700-800 is supposed to achieved at stock :O

I can do that on my asus.
You can't run BF3 on ultra?

Yea, no idea why. Already updated to the latest drivers but bf3 is still underperforming. Fps ranging anywhere from 30-70. Just hope its not an issue with my card.

That's also what I get on ultra preset. Its mostly averaging 40-60 but also drops down to 30 at times...

Does the 12.6 Beta make BF3 run any better than the stock 7970m drivers from clevo/sager?

most likely this will be to do with the enduro issue. presently, there are no fixes for this on the Clevo laptops, though they affect the laptops less than the alienware ones.

yeah that's true. Future drivers will hopefully make the FPS stable. Also on Msi afterburner, my GPU usage % also keep bouncing around 50-60% while playing BF3, it went all the way up to 98% but only for like a second. I think enduro keeps making the 7970m usage % bounce around and keeps "switching around GPU's" during gaming even when it's set to high performance, which leads me to a conclusion that enduro and the current drivers are holding this beast from its full potential.

Same thing when I overclock afterburner to 900/1400, I get 50-60 FPS most the time on BF3 and is a little more stable but still goes down to 25-30, and at times even goes all the way up to 80-90 FPS but only for a second or two.

But the thing is, I get the same fps regardless of settings. Even low is giving me 30. Driver problems...

Exactly, I was expecting to have like 80-100 fps on low settings and low resolutions, but still get 30-60 average. Even when I overclock to 900-1400 it stays longer in the 40-60 range but it still drops down to 25 at times. It's definitely the current drivers, AMD needs to get the official drivers up and running asap.

awakeN, could you try running 3dmark06 for me? i'm just curious if your 7970m will too score lower than ones from Alienware.

yes it does, i have 50 fps with those settings.

I believe i scored 20k, not sure as it was almost a month (!!!) ago.

EDIT: yup, 20016. strange how it's underperforming compared to AW.

that means until now no driver can solve the problem
oh i just realized the video of crysis 2 is in extreme setting while my one is ultra

edit: i found not difference in fps betweem extreme and ultra. conclusion is crysis 2 is same as dirt3, bf3

I'm having the same issues with black screen + BSOD...

I'm going to try to install it and then do the custom install w/ 12.7 and only update the driver or w.e. they say to do....

Hopefully it works. I've reinstalled and tried a ton of things for hours upon hours trying to make this baby work.

I've been saying that on every thread dude i even made a thread about it. this isn't normal. I've just updated my driver to the official AMD 12.7 Beta and its the same thing... I won't be surprised if this issue doesn't get fixed on the official 12.7 WHQL driver that releases sometimes next month. I think I'm returning my laptop and never deal with AMD bs ever again.

I'm not so sure that's a driver problem and not a game problem. It sounds like you have a frame rate limit on.

What game are you running? BF3? Does it only happen in one game? And what are you using to measure FPS?

I can confirm this happens in JC2 and Crysis 2 as well. Using Adrenaline's benchmark tool, I get the same FPS in Town Square using Extreme DX11, Ultra DX11, and Ultra DX11 + 4xAA. In JC2 in Conrete Jungle, I get 30 FPS with or without 4xAA. No VSync enabled.

    Neither Throttlestop or overclocking help.

Seriously guys its called patience... If you live on the bleeding edge of technology then there are always rough spots at the start. Both nvidia and amd are guilty of this. the gtx 660m and 650m just got official drivers last week and they came out before the 7970... Give it a rest and quit being unrealistic

Micahmatthew, What is the firmware on the Crucial? In reading past reviews of the Crucial M4s there were many BSODs related to that drive until later firmware. AND the most recent (000F) is , from what they say (for Macs at least). I would also install once with a regular HDD and see if that works. You need to isolate the variables...

Luckily I have mine shipped with a Momentus XT 750 Hybrid and a caddy, so I will leave that drive pristine and install all on the new SSD for experimentation until this is all baked out.

AwakeN, you have spinning HDD. And had no problems... I say try installing on a spinning drive Micahmatthew, see if it is stable.

i have the m4 as well... updating it at crucial takes all of 3 minutes. id recommend doing that then a complete reinstall of windows and try again... if that doesnt work id send that back cuz you have got to have a HW problem at that point

official 12.7 beta IS the first official driver to support 7970m... and I still get unstable FPS performance on BF3... i don't care about driver release, I care about actually getting the problems fixed and getting the card to run right with games... GPU utilization still bounces around DURING gaming.

It is a BETA which in the computing world means TEST or UNFINISHED. Its also not available directly from amd. It was found on their servers by asder... So the only part that is official is the words in the title. You really are a glass half empty kinda guy you know? Our cards are only gonna get better... You just got be patient with new stuff. If you arent patient then buy tech that's been out awhile

Im only worried about drivers that will fix the 7970M with enduro, the drivers AMD are releasing are for every amd card in general that doesn't even have enduro...

I tried it on a 500gb momentus XT hybrid and it BSOD even faster. Lol
