I have the 7970m on the p150hm. When I play bf3 for example the gpu usage recorded drops from 99%-60%. Should the gpu be having dips like these?

Some of us have been trying to pressure AMD to provide drivers that support switchable graphics for the 7xxx series. AMD as of yet do not have any drivers that do properly support switchable graphics which is why Dell/Clevo drivers or any OEM drivers for AMD with Enduro don't work right.

AMD claims they are working on it via twitter, but nothing else has been said.

caveman-jim has some contacts at AMD and has been asking them for some answers also. Can keep track on this thread.
    7970M Enduro Issue - Rage3D Discussion Area

Right now efforcts from other forums including this one have not had any response or results from AMD. Only Rage3D seems to have had any effect.

I think the hm-series should be free of the Enduro issue. What fps are you getting during those drops?

got settings on ultra with aa off. v-sync on. fps drops from 60-40 but when gpu usage drops below 50 game can freeze for a second

What are your gpu and cpu tems during these drops? Try v-sync off. That could be the problem.

Gpu never goes higher than 75, cpu is in the 70's

Makes no difference. Might try and reinstall drivers again

When playing a game, what % should the gpu usage be staying at?

Can you guys record CPU usage in BF3 in multiplayer maps? See what CPU usage is when the GPU usage goes down. If CPU is hitting 99% in these instances then it is obviously a CPU bottleneck and thus GPU usage won't be maxed out.

You can use the in game command. Type “render.perfoverlayvisible 1” in the command console and press enter to view a graph with details on your CPU and GPU performance. This indicates if there is a performance bottleneck.
