I am hoping someone here has had a similar issue getting the 7970m working under windows 8.

    My Setup:
    Clevo Horize P150E (AMD 7970m)
    Windows 8: Release Preview

    What I have tried:
AMD drivers on Driver CD from manufacturer.
    - Initially fails with an 'Unknown Operating System' type error.
    - Running under Win7 Compatibility allows me to install and all seems good.
    - WEI is ~ 6.5
    - BF3 is ~ 10fps until it finally crashes with a weird error about the "Intel HD4000 being unplugged".
    - bf3.exe is set for High Performance in CCC

    AMD Windows 8 Release Preview // AMD 12.7 Beta // AMD 12.6 // Dell Mx18 Driver packages.
    - I have attempted to use all of these driver packages. Every one of them fails as the Device Hardware ID is not listed.
    - Disabling Windows 8 driver signature verification I manually edit the .inf file adding my Device ID and the R575, R575A, R575B, R576 or R576B lines (one at a time obviously).
    - Initially it appears to have been installed ok. But it doesn't work, and Displays an "error 43" in device manager after a reboot.

    Thoughts:
    - There appears no way to get the P150EM's 7970m working in Windows 8 :(
    - I even resorted to contacting AMD asking if {Device ID} is currently planned to be added to official .inf files. Obviously no response (Also, there appears to be ONE Windows 8 driver package released by AMD, and this is a few months old now... I am not holding out for an official fix anytime soon).
    - One thing I did notice is that the drivers on the manufacturers CD have the device listed as:

    Code:
    "%AMD6800.1%" = ati2mtag_R576B_PXAI, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6800&SUBSYS_51051558
I have seen the R576B reference in all driver packages... But the _PXAI part is new. Is this a manufacturer reference? Or is it a completely separate driver (and explains why the standard R576B drivers didn't work). Google reveals a few Russian sites, which seems to appear the _PXAI referred to in switchable graphic setups from years ago... So are there special Enduro drivers from AMD that I can use?

... Other than that, I am out of ideas! I thought the extra $200 to upgrade my graphics was a good idea at the time. Clearly I should have just stayed n the Nvidia camp!
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can try next?!

Win 8 is still at preview,
I mean there are enough issues with the current Win 7, I doubt AMD is too worried about Win 8 at the moment.

As Kiol has stated, I don't believe that AMD is concerned with offering drivers for the 7970M for Windows 8 at this time as the release is still months away.

It will likely be resolved at that time if not a little sooner.
