I apologize if this is a repeat, but I'm honestly at my wit's end. I've read a lot of the solutions on the forums, and nothing seems to be working.

I just bought a Sager np9170. When I install the AMD drivers off the clevo driver disk, or download them off the sager website, Windows 7 (ultimate x64) just hangs on the "windows starting" screen and won't boot. So I installed those.

I've tried installing the 12.8, 12.7, 12.6 drivers, and they all let me boot but either the 7970m card is recognized by Win7 as "Standard VGA card", or it recognizes as the 7970m but throws up code 43. Either way, it won't run.

I of course uninstall everything between attempts, and I've had to do fresh installs of windows probably 8 times in the past two days. It's driving me nuts. Anyone offer up a solution, or at least point me somewhere that might help? As I said, I've searched these forums, the internet, nothing really seems to work. I keep thinking it might be faulty hardware, but the problem doesn't seem to be limited to me, so I'm holding out hope it's not faulty. Anyway, yea, please help.

Have you asked your reseller for technical support?

first time i heard that kind of issue, it might be a hardware failure, drivers for the 7970 arent good, but they sure shouldnt cause what you are experiencing.

Bit of an update. I have the 12.7 drivers installed, and the GPU shows up in the Device Manager just fine, no ! triangle or anything. However when I try to launch CCC it tells me there are no settings that can be configured with it. If I try to launch a game it doesn't start at all, just a window flashes up briefly the goes away and I'm back at the desktop like nothing's happened.

you seem to have a configuration/driver issue. Contact your vendor and ask for a step by step windows/drivers setup, your issues are probably there. When drivers are wrong or wrongly installed all sorts of weird things happen. Maybe someone here can help you out with a protocol, or else.

    good luck!
