    No news from the seller (i don't except any response from him). The European consumer center told me that they will call me in 2 weeks from now.

    I have the avarage Problems with the 7970m too. Low Framerate and so on. About 7 Weeks ago i send Mister Seiler an Email about the Problem. He told me that im his first Person who has this Problems and there might be a Problem with the games. But then he also told me that if there is a Problem with the Card that has to been fixed, i need to send the Notebook to him. But after that, nothing happened. So i spamed him with mails. 3 Weeks ago there was another Email. He gave me the possibility to exchange the 7970m with a 680m by paying another 300€, or returning him the Notebook by loosing some money. I wasn´t pleased with both posibilitys but a few days later i mailed him that im ok with returning the notebook. But again nothing happened from that day. No Answer, nothing. Im really sick of this shop. The Problems with the 7970m are hugh. A 1500€ Notebook is copetetive with a 750€ Notebook and nothing happens.

    Do it. Dont make them feel like they can get away with everything they do. I've heard some very bad stuff about them, they dont care about their customers and wont answear a single mail, so please, show the &¤#&¤// kids that this is not something that they just can walk away with.

    Sorry for the, "bad words; #%%¤¤" i just had to...

    He wants me now to send it back to the place of purchase in germany. I told him I want to send it back to him for a refund he says he won't give a refund.
    I think I may open a dispute with paypal and get their advice.
    As always caveat emptor no more so than here on notebookreview classifieds.

    if you did not gift the money, then paypal will most likely return you the money, however if you did gift it as method of payment, its unlikely paypal can do much. also which company in germany?

    Report him to the moderators, buying from a shop any device you get that is DOA (if it dies in the first 7 days then it should be treated as such) should be returned ASAP.

    It's worth reporting any shop that does not reply and you should look into getting a refund through your payment provider.

    Notebookguru is known to be shady in its customer "service". They have sold ES processors in the past, refuse to pick up the phone, have problems taking care of anything warranty related, etc.

    I spent a year doing my research on Clevos and resellers before buying my first one. This year I did another one-month research before buying my next Clevo.

    The point is - ALWAYS do your research thoroughly before buying. I have spent hours reading trough german forums, reviews of all the german resellers and customer feedback.
    I even ended up posting (in german) about questions that I had.
    Yes, notebookreview is one of the finest communities regarding anything laptop-related, BUT...when it comes to resellers in a given country, you'd better do additional research.

    In germany, there are quite a few options, but according to my own experience and research, only 2 of them are worth dealing with.
    1) MySN
    2) NEXOC.
    Avoid Notebokguru and DevilTech. Hawkforce has positive reviews, BUT...its a one-man company and taking care of warranty work might be slower.
    There is also One.de but they dont configure things there (laptops are pre-configured).

    Sorry for the long post. It might be a little off-topic, but someone might find it useful.

    i would agree to what bobman said. even tho i got my machine from deviltech and dont really have anythin major to complain about, id go with MySn/Schenker Notebooks in the future when buying from a reseller in Germany :)

    look,the guy that he sold you the card he didn't know that is defective.The shop in Germany sent at the first time defective card.
    And then after while they sent new one,as doa.
    @psarism didn't test it because he know that is new.
    And then he sold the card.
    He didn't know that the second one is defective too.
    Its really sad for you@tron2,but i'm 100%sure that he will do his best to cover you. :)

    ah well, that clears it up@psarrism, glad to know! :)

    @xm cpu: i found some very nice offers on ebay but im holding off from buying one for the time being. i checked out the crossflash with the P170HM XTU-enabled BIOS, but the fan tables for the gpu are HORRIBLE! theyre on like all the time, even on idle desktop, whereas my original P150HM bios is dead silent ;) i think ill first check and see what next year will bring to the table@haswell & nextgen gpus and their compatibility to HM laptops :)

    Hey guys, thnx for the support and replies.
    I have been away for the weekend was quite upset as you guys can imagine. Will be back in a few hrs time to test video card one final time. If I find in this last time it is dead, I will be going via paypal dispute for refund.
    I can understand that he possibly received a new card maybe he didn't cause there was no follow up to this thread, but even if it is new as he said to me it is, wouldn't you wanna test it for 100% confidence that you not sending a dud half way across the globe to another notebook review member?

    I have yet to receive communication with him since friday and this is concerning. He made promise we would receive quick communication from golden star as he is clevo reseller for europe.
    Will update in due course.

    Nahh mate it's a HM series and card should be compatible... see sager response here on sager and clevo thread.
    I have requested an update from seller before I move to next step. I am worried though if I do send it back to Germany I may never see it again, etc, etc...

    EDIT: Also, I just tried the card again but nope no good she is DOA... :(
    Paypal dispute opened..

    At least I have my 6990m which is running very very well to keep me happy in the meantime... :)

    Tron, as i have told you millions of times, the card you got is the card i recieved from Germany which replaced the first one i had bought from notebukguru! I have all the necessary papers (invoice) and the photos, i didn't know it was a bad card (assuming it was and you didn't do something wrong to it which i don't believe because i know you are an experienced user). I am so sorry for all this , i write it hear too that i am not in a position to pay you back the money for a card that i sold NEW and UNTOUCHED, but i will do anything i can for you to get a new one from Germany. Please don't force me to excelate it to Paypal claim since i am already trying to help you, the way notebookguru never did to me and lost 499 euros.

    (you can't send the card to Germany before they accept it and before they send you the RMA form to fill and get the RMA number. So, if they accept to have a look at the card, you will have either a new one or a fixed one)

    I read through the entire thread. but maybe I missed something. Which card are you using now? If it's the working 7970m, who got the faulty card? Did Tron honestly get a card that was NEW and UNTOUCHED? Please correct me if I am thinking wrongly.

    The card I use now is bought from Mythlogic a few days after I lost hope that notebookguru would replace my dead card. Then I had the idea to contact golden star, i was lucky, the card was theirs and they send me a new one, the one I sold to Tron. I had explained to him (and everybody actually) that the card I was selling is coming from golden star and has not be used by me. I finaly sold it 335 euros, I payed the shipping and paypal kept 16 euros which I never asked from the buyer. The rest are offtopic and between me, paypal and the buyer.

    I saw the sellers (psarrism) card fotos and it has the sticker of EM bios on it so how is expacting to work on youre P170HM,the only way to make it work is to make a blind flash,so.............is the blind flash went ok?????Anyway its my opinion,and if i was in youre place Tron iwas never going to buy a card that has bios to work on a difrent laptop than mine,and then try to flash the bios as everybody knows that can be verry dangerous to brick the card,anyway i hope everything ends up good for both of you.

    Keep in mind that they have sent me the replaced 7970m for free, they paid shipping to Greece. Anyway, i am still trying to help Tron, so i have sent another email to Golden Star saying that i would like them to have a look at the card and that i will pay for the shipping and the cost of checking it, if they ask money for it. I really can't do anything more.

    Paypal decided that i shouldn't give a refund to the buyer of the card. Anyway, i am not sure if the card is dead or just incompatible with his laptop, but if i was in his place, i would try to communicate with Golden Star (i have done it myself for him without any luck) and ask for RMA.

    I fear my card is dead as well. Not even the stock drivers work anymore. The only way I can boot into Windows is by disabling the 7970m. I'm going to try a few more things (been at it for 3 hours now). But I'm ready to call this one. I hope Sager or Xoticpc can help.

    Just an update to all.
    Today I received a new Clevo 7970m from local clevo supplier.
    Put it into my Clevo and blind flashed the card and it worked no problem in the clevo p170HM.

    The fact that psarissm insisted I did something wrong when I received his 7970m card and attempted to blindflash it to work in my clevo p170HM is now wrong.

    I can only leave bad feedback for this user and for what he sold me. When I asked him to send it back to him (on the day I tried to get it to work) for full refund he refused as well telling me to take it up with goldenstar and do a rma.
    My initial thoughts about what I said in this thread that retrospectively that his RMA 7970m card he sold me was actually no RMA at all. In fact looking back now the dead card he sent to goldenstar for the original rma was what I received in the post

    It is such a shame he never tested the card before going onto these forums(marketplace) and selling me his faulty/not working 7970m card and I consequently losing a fair bit of $$.
    Hope this helps/warns other but as always caveat emptor.
