I am using a clevo p150hm. My current 6970m is dying on me. Temp is rising and forcing my laptop to shut down. Planning to get a 7970m but I heard there's issue with the hdmi output not useable and about certain batched of 7970m (pre march 2014) that are compatible with hm models.

Is my current heat sink or laptop parts compatible as well?

    Any advises on this?

    Thanks

    Hello and welcome to NBR,:hi2:

Yes hdmi output working but no audio from memory.
Make sure you buy the 7970m clevo v1.2 (this is only one compatible)
You will need to blind flash enduro off vbios as per this thread so make sure you are comfortable with this before purchase.
Yes current heat sink should be fine.

Good luck and have a nice day :)

    Thanks the reply.

So I can assume that 7970m v 1.2 will work just fine for my current laptop? No hindrance from the motherboard or processor?

On the underside of the card is a sticker which will identify if it is v1.2 or v1.1
6990m is very hot card. Better to get 7970m card if you can source one.

    Good luck :)

The 6990M also is historically notorious for having a high failure rate. If you can get the 7970M, it will perform better and be more reliable.
